In all honestly the squad with two additions will be perfectly alright.

If, and it's a big if at this point, we make those two additions, then I agree.

At the moment, we're relying on two average wingers to provide back up to the perennially injured Rafael, there's no back-up to Shaw, we only have three injury prone senior CBs, and if one of Herrera or Fletcher (who there must still be doubts over) get injured, we can look forward to Cleverley, Anderson or Bogbrush.

It's absolutely astonishing that we're in this position with a week to go until the season begins.

The fact that nothing is being reported is due to the Club leaking nothing, that's a good thing surely? To me, This summer is nothing like last, however I can understand why you may think like that. We gave LVG, to me that is a major signing, further to that, I truly believe we will sign Vidal as well as another CB, not to mention Herrera and Shaw

The optimist's view is that we're not briefing, hence no transfer reports in the press. Irrespective, there's less than a week to go until the new season and there are gaping holes in the squad. It's been yet another poor window - it was abundantly clear from the start where the problems lay, yet we've wasted a month. Chelsea have schooled us when it comes to getting their business done this summer.

2-3 transfers is an absolute must. Like people said before me, any injuries in that midfield to either Herrera or Carrick/Fletcher and we're fecked. The centre-back situation is even worse with 2 key figures after leaving this club. Fair enough, Blackett looks promising but surely we'd want to have an established, experienced player in there?

Yeah it's exactly the same as last season except for the fact that we have already spent the double of what we did last season with twenty days to go.
The concern seems to stem from the fact that we've signed one midfielder to improve us and one full back who is unlikely to be an immediate upgrade on Evra as he's still learning the game. We might end up doing much better than Last season based on the fact it was a false position and because LVG is a very good manager but as things stand we've not had much of a summer in terms of doing the work the squad needs. Still time, though.

When Jones, Smalling and Evans are all out injured plus Rafael and at least one of Carrick or Fletcher is, is it still perfectly alright?

Any team would struggle with that many injuries together tbh and that too in concentrated areas together.

We need 2 to 4 players depending on availability, especially a CB and then a CM but squad is shite and all is overstating it to a large degree.

I'm very calm about our transfers. Much more than last season.

It stems from knowing we have the right man in charge. He knows what he's doing. If he thinks the squad is good enough then its good enough. I think he wanted to give all the players a month to prove themselves and he's done that and I think we'll see more movement now.

You are right regarding Ashley Young. Now that matherto from the Caf has said that there's no chance will never be anything other than average, we might as well sell him right now.

Could you please call van Gaal and tell him about this? The poor deluded fella seems to be quite impressed with Young.

I'll give him a bell and let him know. Hopefully it'll be sorted out.

Goalkeepers: Norberto Neto, Ciprian Tatarusanu, Luca Lezzerini
Defenders: Manuel Pasqual, Marcos Alonso, Ahmed Hegazi, Gonzalo Rodriguez, Stefan Savic, Facundo Roncaglia, Nenad Tomovic, Gianluca Mancini, Cristiano Piccini
Midfielders: Juan Cuadrado, Borja Valero, Joshua Brillante, Alberto Aquilani, David Pizarro, Lazzari, Matias Vecino, Juan Vargas, Rafal Wolski
Strikers: Giuseppe Rossi, Mario Gomez, Khouma Babàcar, Josip Ilicic, Iakovenko, Joaquin

Looks pretty clear he is to me.

Well he's not a midfield general in a month of Sundays.

Coutinho never actually uses the words midfield general. I do think he'll be a central midfielder for us though and he has shown that he's more than capable of excelling in that role.

If so, he's going to be another Gerrard: someone who needs a babysitter or two alongside him. Don't see why you wouldn't play him higher up the pitch.

Think I'll have to look into Forster as a fantasy football signing... Could prove to be a great addition for Southampton and my fantasy team ;)

DailyStar, The Sun, Express, Metro are all pointless. Ignore anything United related from those sources.

More or less. I'd add Caught Offside to this too although Neil Custis of Sun has got decent sources.

We'd be better off refreshing the united website rather than Twitter at this rate...either nothing is going on or Woody is somehow keeping things very quiet. I don't understand the delay if we are intending on buying players.

Why are we making a big deal out of Schweinsteger asking for Scholesy's jersey at HT?

Who's making a big deal out of it?

Good Lord...

I'd have asked for the interviewers jersey.

Wait, you mean Scholes is in that picture? I just don't see him, sorry.

I think I'd ask for her Jersey at half time

Here are all the responses to that tweet. What a stupid thing to post.

Easy for you to say. Preparing a bid, in reality, is a really hard, time consuming, and arduous process that needs at least a few months, apparently

Then why would you post it? You know they don't have a clue. Its like posting an article from caught offside.

Because I'm bored. :D

Would you prefer some TalkSport nonsense instead? Here's some:

“And it seems the player’s agent, according to these reports, is indeed in Manchester as we speak.”

Di Marzio has said, he's in Italy, I know who'd I probably think was true in that case.

Seriously, I would vote to have the following added to the banned list: Star, Express, and Metro, Talk Sport, Goal and CaughtOffSide (don't think anyone has ever posted one of their tweets/news stories in here though.
