Exactly. All the comparisons with Borini etc aren't valid since Hernandez earns at least double in wages to Borini.

Comparisons to Lukaku (and I think I've seen some) are even more invalid since Lukaku has been one of the best forwards in the league for two years and Everton wanted him desperately because they already knew how valuable he was to them. Atletico can look at other forwards if they don't sign Hernandez and find better value elsewhere if we try to hold them to ransom, they've already partly solved forward issue with Mandzukic (although they have lost Adrian, Villa and Costa, so all their forwards).

To be honest that bit makes sense, as they've both played wing back. What doesn't make sense is Ogden saying we want a left back. A) We're not even playing a back four; B) Young has impressed as a left wing back, and Shaw is competing with him, as is James. Why would we buy a fourth player to fight for that spot?

Probably going off old rumours linking us with Rodriguez earlier in the summer after Shaw had signed!

Di Maria will join Real Madrid training today but he's still waiting his transfer to PSG to be finalized soon. [Marca]

Exactly. I can't even comprehend how mental that would have been.

LVG has already shown in his short time exactly what is needed. I have a horrible horrible feeling in the back of my mind that he'll sort us out, get us back to where we belong, then Giggs will take over and it will all go to pot again. And it will be a whole lot harder to sack Giggs then it was to sack Moyes.

So your ESP had fated a club legend will be the same as the second coming of King Kenny?

Alves will be better off in Italy. The premier league isn't the best place for fullbacks on the decline.

Man Utd is the 2nd option. Van Gaal has agreed to sign Di Maria. Question is if they're willing to pay €55M. [ABC]

The Times: Spurs could sell as many as five defenders with Chiriches, Dawson, Assou-Ekotto, Younes Kaboul and Naughton linked to leave

Daily Mail: Southampton will hold further talks with Inter Milan over the signing of winger Ezequiel Schelotto,

Independent: Pepe Reina could remain with Liverpool beyond transfer deadline day as AC Milan are put off by his wages.

GdS: Marouane Fellaini is still a loan target for Napoli but Serie A club wants Man Utd to pay half his wages. Loan fee of €5million (£4m)

That's not a bad loan fee at all. If he can regain some value to enable us sell him next year, that could work out well.

I don't get that. They want us to pay half his wages yet want to pay us £4m. Surely he's not on £8m a year. Why not just pay all his wages and no loan fee?

I trust LvG to bring in the players he wants to do the job.

Case again of reading into that what we want? Could very well mean he's very happy at Juve. Or that he's happy being in Jakarta. Or he's being sarcastic or just on a massive WUM.

He's clearly staying in Juve.

No player looking to move is going to talk about how happy they are to stay 'here' in a pic full of his current team mates.

Bored to tears with him now. At the very least he's keeping his options open but no one seems to want him. Just commit to Juve and do us all a favour.
