I was looking on the official Liverpool forums earlier when the Remy deal fell through and loads of them had said that Remy was the 2nd best striker in the league behind Sturridge (before the deal fell through). Pretty funny but expected by them.

Lovren is the best CB in the PL and dont you know it.

Although he is a very good player. :)

Thats the thing with smaller clubs. All their players have a value marked and if that value is reached, then whether they need the money or not, they will be sold and lets be honest. Small clubs always need more money. I mean no one in their right mind would reject deals like £26m for Llallana and £27m for Shaw. Those are huge sums for money for a club like Southampton.
Regardless of size, any ambitious club would steer clear of selling off that many first team players in a single transfer window. Not to mention someone like chambers will most likely improve and command a higher fee, yet the current owners seem to want to cash in here and now.

Seriously? Wow at both. Sturridge is the best striker in the league? I've heard it all now.

Well the players also want to leave for bigger clubs don't they? How long are you going to refuse them a move? Players have a limited window in terms of their playing careers and they will want to make the most of it.

It should be interesting to see how he does when Suarez isn't beating half of the other team and creating space for him.

Sturridge was woeful at the world cup and I cannot see him performing to a high standard if it's only Lambert playing with him up top.

Unless they invest a fair bit of that money, it'll look like its asset stripping.

It doesn't look that rediculous an explanation does it? Might go some way to explaining the chief exec leaving last season. Cortese was his name i think

Remind me where we finished last season...

You cannot really compare one year of coming second (and then selling the player that got you there) to never being outside of the top 3 (bar one year) since 1992 can you?

Thats the way they roll now is seems. Sturridge scored the most gaols last season (i'm not sure he did, did he?) so that automatically means he's the best striker in the league, we finished 7th under an inept manager last season which means we are automatically a mid-table team with no chance of a title challenge etc.

Their minds work differently if it suits them.

BeIN sports removing the Di Maria close to United story, reports from everywhere that he is close to PSG again...

Looks like Di Maria is dead in the water again

If di Maria and Vidal both stay, who the hell are we signing. That's the thing we haven't really been linked to anyone else. August is going to be a headfeck isn't it

Haha for €80M they can have him!
Is it just me though, or has the fee risen from €50M to €80 in increments over the space of about a week or so?
Marca and AS have been reporting the deal done to the bid being increased every few days

That's great news, Can't wait to see him playing regularly in his best position. He's just a joy to watch.
Yeah, seems like van Gaal is a big fan. Makes sense with all his talk about 'training brains rather than legs' as Mata is such an intelligent person, let alone footballer. The thing I like most about Mata is his efficiency. When you consider other creative #10's and the like, they often lack goals and sometimes fall short in assists. Mata will almost always secure you anywhere from 15-30 direct goal contributions.

I have a feeling the club's are bidding on an Ebay style auction site for football managers.

He had a buy it now price, but the auction has run a week and has now ended at 80m Euros. Obviously Woodward got a little trigger happy but the Glazers removed his mouse and keyboard.

on what fecking planet is di maria worth 80m euro's... he's a brilliant winger but come on.

In before "The same planet david luiz was sold for 50m"

He has something stupid like 87 assists out of his last 120 games for Madrid. He might not be worth 80mil but he's definitely a 50-60mil player in todays market.
