We shall see. I reckon he will be blaming the WC next season as opposed taking responsibility.

To be fair it is difficult, one on hand Woodward could make the transfers himself effectively fulfilling the role of a director of football and then everybody will complain because he will get it wrong or he could wait for the manager to finish the world cup and everybody will complain because the manager might decide to buy only one or two players and see what he can do with the current team since he is so confident in himself he probably thinks he could win the league with Fellaini and Cleverley in the middle.

If Louis has given his list of targets then that is fair enough and Woodward should do all he can, but can we really blame him if we don't sign Sanchez because he wants champions league football? We don't get him everybody complain, we get him for £250k per week then maybe Mata wants £300k per week.

Woodward has signed Louis van Gaal, this is a good summer already. People forget how many on here thought Moyes would be given more time especially considering SAF and SBC's public backing of this. The fact we have next season not the chosen one but instead the one who knows what he's doing is great, it was touch and go for a while there, many on here thought Moyes would be given next season too.

I dont like Woodward, however, you are correct that Moyes has to take a fair share of blame last summer too. As for Herrera - Moyes wanted him and Woodward screwed it. That simple.

Nah, his interview in UWS magazine said that the stuff about his paying his buy clause was bollocks. We just never thought he was worth near that.

Not what ive heard but each to their own my friend.

What do you mean "each to their own".

Currently we have a documented interview in UWS vs sly look around to see if anyone's watching and a whisper of "I've heard..."

Ultimately Woodward has failed in two and one-third attempts to strengthen any of the weak points of the squad. He has two-thirds of an attempt left to save our necks and perhaps his own (missing out on the CL tv rights bonanza from 2015-16 would be disastrous).

I'm a quarter and five-eighths sure that I don't know what the feck that means

I just dont happen to trust Woodward and what he has told UWS on some events of last summer. I may be wrong.

I still can't believe Barcelona are willing to sell him. He's a world class match winner.
Too direct for them. With Luis Enrique becoming the new manager I fully expect their style to be more similar to Pep's style rather than Barca of last year.

It's not that hard is it. 2 and a bit windows have gone by without strengthening the areas of the squad that needed to be strengthened. We have the rest of this window to rectify that, and try to avoid the disaster of 2 consecutive seasons of no CL football.

I guess we can replace "Woodard moan" with Oliver Tories loan move, or anything :D

I don't think mata would want that kind of money or anyone in their right mind for that matter. If you're not doing well, your in no position to negotiate and no other club is going to offer them 300pw and if they're willing to offer that much? The fee would be ours to demand.

The champions league maybe an issue - I don't think a major one, but the wages should not be a problem at all. If you want a player, make them a serious offer

Difficult to know how LVG plans on setting us up, however, i would love him here.
Januzaji can play on the wings and central just like Sanchez. I hope this won't stop us from going for Sanchez. Ignoring young and Valencia - we still have Weelback/kagawa who can play on the wings aswell. It's all a bit confusing, let's just hope Sanchez is in Van gaal's transfer list.

Amazing how wasted Sanchez is at Barcelona. His performances for Chile really bring back memories of what he used to do at Udinese

He had a good season. Didn't he score around 20 league goals? Buy yeah, he's better when Messi isn't playing.

@SilentWitness Kevin Kampl is quality but only flourishes in a counter football team and still is too inconsistent IMO. I've watched him many times as I am from Austria and he simply didn't dominate in a way that a player linked with such top clubs should. He also has a confirmed release clause in the region of 12m€

Thanks for the knowledge mate. I think this is why he would fit in well with us though to be honest. We showed last year that we could be a top counter attacking team which is why people like Deulofeu and Mirallas have looked excellent with us (Including their own individual ability). We are a good team to have players of an inconsistent nature to develop into top players too actually with our set-up and our manager.

Offer Barca £30m for Sanchez. Blow the other teams out the water as he is worth it.

He'd give us what Robben gives the Dutch.

This is what we have to do. We can't offer Champions League, so we have to make sure that we offer a financial package that's much more than anyone else.

West Brom are closing on the signing of Joleon Lescott, who is available as a free agent at the end of his contract at Manchester City, with the England international undergoing a medical with the Baggies.

Something funny (in more ways than one).
