Its weird after reading old Van Gaal quotes about his huge admiration for Vidal, we wouldn't be interested. I mean Van Gaal tried to buy him before and couldn't but now he's at a club that has the stature and money (well should have anyway) to make it happen so why wouldn't he go all in?.
Knowing us, i'm not going to get my hopes up with Vidal (quite the opposite knowing us) but i have a sneaky feeling that this whole Vidal thing might not be totally over.

How very retrospective of you Stu... :smirk:

Jesus. Smokescreens again. Still waiting for someone, anyone, to explain to me how they work.

Smokescreen lowers the target's accuracy stat by one stage. Smokescreen will not affect a target with the Abilities Keen Eye, Clear Body, or White Smoke

Coming on here and constantly seeing this and the Vidal thread being bumped, gives me such false hope and optimism, before I enter the thread and be disappointed.

Beats last season, I guess, when the homepage contained 90% Liverpool and Moyes related threads, at all times.

This. I've never actually seen or heard of smokescreens working in football, yet it kept coming up all last summer.

Actually one of the more irritating things about that transfer window, along with the repeated use of the word "embarrassing" and the notion that we were just bidding for (and subsequently failing to land) big names in an attempt to keep the fans happy. Because we clearly love it when that happens...

Maybe it's because Van Gaal has a system in mind to suit our current squad and maybe Vidal doesn't fit that system. Van Gaal seems to be all about the system. I'm not saying this is the case here but it could be one potential explanation.
A system that the likes of Fellaini, Cleverly, and Fletcher will fit into but not Vidal?, please.
Thats like saying there is no need to buy Messi because we have Rooney and Kagawa.

Are some of you guys being serious!? I thought Vidal signed a new contract by most of the responses. What did u expect Juve to say.

"We will sell him, but it might piss off the fans and lower his price by saying that, so I really should have thought before saying this. Bollocks."

"Here is our new unpopular manager, hastily appointed after our previous, well loved manager resigned unexpectedly. Also we're selling our talismanic midfielder."

This. This. THIS.

I can't believe how quickly the mood has dropped. I know the Transfer Forum isn't the place to call for balance, but this is ridiculous.

Juve were always going to use this presser as an opportunity to flex their muscles - they've lost a top manager and need to portray an image of strength. How would it look to the Juve fans if a day after losing Conte they turn around and say Vidal is for sale?

Not to mention how such a ploy would weaken their negotiating position.

People are forgetting how frequently the outcome in football transfers is different to all the rhetoric that goes before it.

The biggest thing here is that Vidal, when interviewed, was clearly open to the move. Juve haven't actually categorically ruled out him leaving - it's important to note that Marotta has said that it's in Vidal's hands.

This is a cat and mouse game - we don't want to get taken to the cleaners, Juve want a good price. The fact that United are briefing that he's not on their radar is an irrelevance. Football clubs lie.

Hazard, Lucas Moura, Sanchez, Thiago, Herrera (last season), Fabregas, Sneijder, etc. We have been here too many times before, thats why a lot of people are pessimistic when we are in for top class players.

 damn those crafty suits and their cunning tricks for keeping us docile and happy.

So people. It's 16th of July and our transfer activities have ended... We wont sign anyone just because Vidal story has ended. ( so they say )

According to some that is..

Cause if isnt a marquee signing it doesnt matter....

LVG wont lead us to CL places, our squad is crap, Shaw and Herrera are child LB and some spanish mid who couldnt even make it to NT.

its all over, panic, panic, panic everybody!!!

If Twitter is to believed over the last few days (Twitter is all we have really), they want £34mil for Vidal. How is that being 'taken to the cleaners'?, we would be taking THEM to the cleaners if we got him for that price.

It's only just begun! Don your muppet armour for the smokescreens are about to get hazy. We shall fight on the banks of Turin and steal their king!

No need for all that drama...I feel as though his signing is a matter of time and only that.
Conte's resignation was the nail in the coffin for the Juve fans.

This Vidal news is hitting you hard isn't it.

£34m would probably be an acceptable figure for United to pay. Juventus are probably angling for more. If they're asking for, say, £40m, then it's normal that we will try to haggle them down. There's still plenty of time in the transfer window - provided relations are good between the clubs, there's plenty of time to thrash out an agreement.

Of course, the press briefings may be true and we may have no interest. But there's a hell of a lot of smoke for there to be no fire...

Utd probably aren't dealing with Juventus through Twitter.

Hmm just in the nick of time for us. Chelsea come in and buy Pogba, Juve then say they can't sell their 2 main midfielders and we can then come out and say "well we did try to get him guys".
Woodard must be breathing a sigh of relief right now.:D

Very funny. Twitter is all we have, Twitter is why this thread exists. If we don't speculate using Twitter rumors then the mods may as well shut this thread.
