No point keeping Chris Smalling at all, he's 25 in November and hasn't even come close to fulfilling his potential, If Arsenal want' him they can pay hard cash, which would give us more funds to buy a top draw centre half. Bringing in, Someone like Hummels, Benatia or even Marquinhos will be excellent business. Losing Smalling will hardly effect us, why is everyone getting hurt over it?

If he is indeed our best defender, then we would need two centre backs anyway. Jones and Evans are good enough to provide cover.

Arsenal will be competing for a top four finish just like us next season, ergo, rivals. Marquinhos has plenty of time but Smalling doesn't? Are the days longer in France? As I said, this isn't some alternate reality where once players who had potential grow older than 21 and haven't fully impressed they're render useless, there is plenty of time for Smalling to develop. And he will do.
