Smalling is young for a defender and his development was slowed by the fact he was in non-league football until fairly recently.

If Arsenal want a swap, give them Kagawa.

Underrated is he?

Every time I've seen him play centre back, he gives away silly fouls by our box which we often conceded from this season. His passing ability is almost non existent. Even in 2013 he was kept out the team by Ferdinand and Evans!

Evans who plays on the left side and Ferdinand who was in team of the year that season. Hardly anything to knock him with.

I could have sworn having read 6 tweets in the past week saying terms had been agreed or deal had been done to Arsenal.

What a load of shite twitter is.

Yet there is something so hypnotizing about them saying deals are done or fees have been agreed in those white blocks.

Give them nobody and do not sign Vermaelen.

Alexis - Özil - Kagawa looks a bit threatening.

Smalling is the weakest of our 3 defenders right now for, but he still shouldn't be sold.

Cazorla looks more threatening so we are weakening them slyly. :p

I'm not sure. What Cazorla has in his set piece, passing abilities and a bit of knack for stepping up in the big games, Kagawa is quicker, a more intelligent footballer, a stronger dribbler and has better link-up play. It's close to call, but he'd be an excellent option for them to have.

City walked away from that deal. If the price is too much for them then why do you think there's any chance that we would pay it?

You don't need to be an itk to see that it's simply not going to happen.

City didn't walk away. Benatia was their 2nd preference after Mangala.

But Mangala himself was undecided and giving them cold vibes as he wanted to move to Chelsea and London. Still it hasn't been fully completed due to that.

They were negotiating for both but Mangala was at the WC.

I think they can both are Close but Cazorla so far has shown more in the PL. He's played at a higher level for them than Kagawa has played for us.

No point keeping Chris Smalling at all, he's 25 in November and hasn't even come close to fulfilling his potential, If Arsenal want' him they can pay hard cash, which would give us more funds to buy a top draw centre half. Bringing in, Someone like Hummels, Benatia or even Marquinhos will be excellent business. Losing Smalling will hardly effect us, why is everyone getting hurt over it?

No point keeping our best CB last season. Might as well sell our best goalkeeper too

Marquinhos is a project at this stage and not suited to the PL physically for a defender right now.

And you are underrating Smalling at CB probably based on his RB performances. What was top draw Benatia upto when he was 24, btw ? The same age you are writing Smalling off.

Why do people want Blind? Wasn't impressed by him at all during the WC.
We have unconditional love for utility men. O'Shea, Brown, Park etc... I thought he was decent at the WC. Not the most gifted player you'll see but he's intelligent. And he knows his strengths and looks capable on the ball.

Evans (when fit) is our best and most experienced CB by a long distance.

Which is why we're desperate for a new CB. Evans is so overhyped at RedCafe - it's insane. He makes a mistake in nearly every game I see him play, which usually results in the oppo scoring.

That's certainly untrue, how many games do you see? One or two?

Yeah Blind is a good option to replace Evra, he can cover many different positions across the field, mainly LB, CB and CM. Basically a good utility player like O'shea was.

Where's all this Smalling talk coming from?

He's one of the biggest victims of perception bias on here. I'd be surprised if his detractors could point to a under par performance of his at centre back last season.

Arsenal aren't a rival? Despite finishing several places ahead of us last season and occupying one of the CL places we're looking to regain this season? Ffs.

What? He was arguably man of the match against Spain had a good game against Brazil. He looks highly dependable. He would be a great backup signing
The amount of injuries we attract, he would get plenty of games. That's if Phil Jones doesn't injure him in his first training session.
