Express saying same as mirror - want lower price

Oh no! not the Express, Mirror and the Daily bloody Mail. Three bastions of truth and good journalism. They would never lie to attract more viewers to the articles which definitely does not earn them more money....

Sun now reporting it. All we need now is the broadsheets, BBC and SSN and meltdown time.

We are obviously offering him huge wages if this is the case. But to be so stubborn as to haggle for his price is something stupid. I remember when we were reported to be ready to spend 40m on him and he's completely worth it. I mean how is Mata worth 37m and Vidal not 34m?! Insane, utterly bizarre logic.
i don't get why most of us believe that we are not willing to pay the asking price. how do we know that Vidal and his agent is not using us to get a better contract OR they are holding on for Bayern/Madrid etc to make a bid? Remember what happened with Febregas last summer?
If mail article is correct then clearly Woodward has realised that player or the club is unwilling to do buisness with us and he is ending this saga, otherwise why not deny it last week or before?

What the hell is the point of a loan deal when the guy is almost 27? He's not going to suddenly become a good player at his age. Liverpool should have just sold him.
Loans aren't just for developing players though, you're missing the point.

In this case they are putting him out there to boost his value a little before they ship him off next summer. Better than him sitting in the reserves for a season and losing his value.

Nothing?

Fresh Vidal interview supposedly. Obligatory terrible google translation:
"I'm not thinking about where I go, I want to take the holiday with people I love. Now I'm thinking about other things. Then when you get to Italy I will see," he said.

"I'm in a big team, Juventus, so it'll be quiet like the option if fails Manchester United," he said.

Mata is probably on a similar wage to what Vidal would be too I would guess. Can't remember what he is meant to be on exactly.

If anything I'd say Vidal will be between £150-200k per week. He's not going to be up at RVP/Rooney's level, but will probably be on more than the bulk of the squad.

There is also the impending clearout looming which would wipe another big load of wages off our books.

Anyway, Express, Mail and Mirror are the three going with the story, the holy trinity of terrible places for transfer news.

The Sun will probably be next. :smirk:
Congratulations. You have won the Internet.

Jonas Giæver just in time to rekindle the fire. It was beginning to look pretty dim for us muppets for 30 minutes there.

Maybe...

"It (staying at Juve) will be quite the fall-back option if United's bid fails". ?

i think we should sign someone else because he looks like he isnt taking this seriously. thiago had a ball with de geas signature and everything.

Think that is what he's saying.

If these quotes are correct, he's now said "any player would love to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world", and "Juventus will be quite the fall back if United falls through".

I started following this guy after he translated yesterday's Chilevision interview with Vidal

This is great! So he's pretty much saying we're trying to sign him, and he wants to come but would be happy to stay at Juve.

"I'm already at a big team so it's no issue if the united bid fails"

I think we can at least confirm that something is in the works which is all we can ask for at this stage.

IMO all press etc always try and put us down. Then when we sign a player they all jump on the bandwagon. I've never seen sky sports talk about our transfer targets. Yet they are all over Liverpool everyday

Does he not know that we're no longer interested? Fool.

(Seriously though when was that interview?)

So to summarise!

He goes out of this way to point out that this is all just a translation from Chlevision's quotes. Don't think anyone has seen the actual interview themselves...

He wouldn't be saying all this shit if it we we'd dropped our interest.

The tabloids are just fishing for clicks. Daily Mail jumped in and the rest copied them. You have to bear in mind that all tabloid writers are morons with no sources, other than what some idiot at the next paper has dreamt up that afternoon. The blind leading the blind.

I hope they didn't get a picture of the part where he went and checked out Mail Online for updates :(

It's probably completely irrational of me but I'm going to be so pissed off if we mess this up.

I always get suspicious when several papers come out with the same story at the same time though. Seems like a briefing. But with what overall purpose?

I suppose what I'm finding annoying is that Juventus don't seem to be ruling out a move with their mouthpiece papers suggesting a deal can be done for the right price. At the same time Vidal seems open to the move which makes my muppetitis flare up. :(

Moyes was in charge, EDIT: So he didn't want to join?
I think I lost you there.. What I meant from my first post, We chased Febregas all summer we don't want something same happening again. I don't believe we are not willing to pay £34m for Vidal.

Obviously Vidal is lying then and trying to force interest. On a serious note, we haven't had any info from more reliable sources of a potential deal, other then we're monitoring his situation.

To lower the price presumably. Hard to understand why if there's any truth in us talking around the £35m mark  Would have thought there's too much risk of other teams coming in at that price, that we should bite their hand off and run.

It'll come out of the blue -If at all- its obvious the club has done its best to plug the info leaks and now no-one knows squat, just all conjecture and guesswork.

Why on earth would he say something so daft.

Wouldn't believe he said that and will be surprised if he did.

On another note, does anyone else wonder how much money Manchester United generate for these sites and what they would consider the perfect formula to optimise clicks?

Surely they can't keep going with the off/on angle for much longer, or are people who click that gullible?

Yeah me too. The info appear to be leaked and thats when you start believing it. I'm normally quite optimistic but didn't believe this from the beginning.

Sounds like a phantom interview. Is there any verification it actually happened?

Right, here is the biggest contradiction in the Daily Mail article that supposedly says the deal is off:

-Louis van Gaal has decided the midfielder is not for the Old Trafford club
-despite new manager Van Gaal identifying Vidal as one of his leading targets to strengthen his midfield.

How can van Gaal decide that Vidal is not right for Manchester United, yet he's one his leading targets?? Did United come out today and deny that a deal has been done for Vidal? Seems like the papers are just taking that and twisting it to how they see fit. Wouldn't surprise me to see it back on tomorrow
