Exactly. I'm not saying United can't attract big names. However, I find it ironic when Liverpool's stature is dismissed when they are linked with the likes of Reus when they are also a big club able and able to offer Champions League football.

They're a third seed team who are trying to replace the third best player in the world with Rickie Lambert. They could potentially go into a group with 2 European Giants. I think it'd be a success if they made it out of the group. Even if they do manage to do that, I really just don't see the depth of quality in their squad that the likes of Chelsea, United and City have in order to compete in the latter stages of Europe and challenge for top four.

Worst case scenario, I see them them bombing out of their group in third place as a result of being drawn with two European giants in their group. Third would be worse than fourth as they'll then have to take on the Europa League too. The residual effect domestically being a fatigued squad come the Christmas break. Don't forget they went out of the cups fairly early too last season.

Best case scenario, they make it out of their group and put in a decent effort by resting players for the league, make it to the round of 16 or at a push the QFs and then after that focus entirely on the league and challenge for fourth place. I see that Rodgers recongises the lack of depth buy the number of players they are targeting in this window but I just think they all lack the quality.

Err...

The way you talk it's as if United winning trophies is ancient history...

We just won the league the season before last...

Couple of additions now and we'll be right back on top...

Also by your logic if Stoke gets a shiny new owner that spends half a billion, players should join them instead of traditionally bigger clubs like United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool ?

From reading Rawk and Bluemoon, it seems our friendly rival fans are annoyingly using last season as our 'true' level, not a blip under a terrible dumbass manager but our true level.
Its incredibly predictable and annoying but the flip side of that is that it will hurt them even more when we challenge for the title next season and finish ahead of one or both of those clubs.

They are desperate for us to be finished. Desperate.

Ah but then It will be we tried to buy the league again because it is only us spending money.

You always have the last laugh DMC

Gotta keep it light mate, 6 weeks before the transfer window closes and there could be some last minute trolly dash action to keep the drama for, with van Gaal dashing around ASDA with Blind and Clasie in his bucket! :D
