£2 million for Bebe would be poor for us but as someone already said it is typical United. Unless the player is a World Beater (Ronaldo) that we are selling we will not get a profit on them.

We let Forlan go for 2m, just the way it is with us. Ronaldo apart, players are usually sold because we're initiating the sale.

Apart from the initial fees, I hope we have a decent sell on clause on Bebe. Have a feeling that Benfica will sell him for more in the next run.

Maybe Rodgers is Rafa MK II - quantity over quality.. or completely out of their depth players Fort.

How highly do English fans regard Lallana by the way?

I dont understand the hard-on the English have for that "youngster" - who's friggin 26 years old for Christ sake..

Its's hilarious & cringey, the amount of English players that get catapulted to International class & then to world class without any basis or proof that he is of that standard.

The WC showed once again, that English players arent any better than international class, with many of them not even at that standard..

He's surprised me in the market this summer, to be honest, because you'd think becoming a CL team, at long last, would open the doors to a superior pool of talent and instead, he's gone for average, intra league players despite losing one of the best players in the world.

It's a valid argument to say the top class players won't go there, but there's plenty of others a tier or two below that would.

Lallana doesn't seem to be that highly rated, to be honest. Deserves a crack at a bigger team, but probably not a CL one.

Maybe he'll prove himself a revelation there, who knows. Can't see it though.

This medical report stuff, how are we supposed to have got a hold of them if we haven't even done anything int terms of agreeing a deal/medical?

Most likely the player himself (and/or his agent) has given us permission to gather personal information from the doctors who worked with him during the WC to get their opinion on his injury / healing after his surgery, and wether it'll a concern going forward.

Bebe is going for such a low fee because he's got only 1 year left of his contract.

I'm all for United spending big but if those Di Maria reports are true then it's ridiculous, there needs to be a line.

I refuse to get caught up in the Vidal stuff until there is something more concrete, I just hope we don't have all our eggs in one basket.

Yup. Besides, the maximum we'd have got was probably anywhere from £4-6m. Not too much to be losing sleep over, as someone said above; it's more about getting the players off the books than getting a good fee for them.

I hope we don't sell Bebe. Van Gaal should have at least a look at him

It means one of two things:

1) That we only sell players when we are done with them and they are on the decline, or;

2) We have terrible negotiators

I'm not sure which one it is. Probably a mixture of both.

When we sell, it's almost always because the player is undesirable for us and that's mainly due to them not being very good. We're not like Arsenal who have to sell their best players to bigger clubs and therefore get a lot of money for it, nor are we like Madrid or Barcelona or Chelsea who sell their very good players because they want new toys or just don't like them anymore. Have we ever had a scenario like Mata at our club? Where one of the - if not the - best player in the club is sold because the manager doesn't feel he fits the system?

Who cares, just get him off our books.

Same with about 6 others.

Totally agree £2m or £5m what difference does it make to us and 12 months ago everyone would have been happy for him to go for free.
Also am I the only one not really bothered if we lose out on DiMaria. Had a brilliant season, not as a winger, people stating he is an assist machine...so was Ozil before him. He has been (all be it a much better) Nani the seasons preceding last year, syper talented and super inconsistant. No doubt he would have improved us and I think we need an attacking winger, more dissapointed we didnt get or go for whichever the case may be Sanchez, signing of the summer so far in the premiership.
Of course regarding not being bothered....Vidal on the other hand :P

It will, United are not foolish. It might not be a swap deal, but of course it's an opportunity to negotiate.
Exactly. Plus IMO I think it would be in bad taste using Evra who is a loyal servant to the club as part of a deal to sign a new player.

Not sure we could get much more for Bebe without him signing a new contract. Teams have done that before though, sign him up then sell

We should have got at least £5m for Bébé as he had a very good season in Portugal. Terrible sale again.

But was nearly out of contract with us, which probably means there wasn't much leverage for us to negotiate more. Although, we may have negotiated a sell on percentage.

With a year left on his contract and when we're clearly desperate to get rid? Doubtful.

He'd have been out on loan again then leave on a free.

Loyal servent who was paid healthily, won many trophies had it comfortable. His time has come, discard him by including him with Vidal. Both parties are happy.
To be honest though I actually didn't want him to leave, I really like Pat and he has the type of character that we need in our squad. Things have to move on though,

It was bad business by us purchasing him for 7m in the first place, we should cut our losses and take whatever they offer..2-3m sounds about right tbh

I don't think that's relevant any more. We have LvG. He can surely motivate them
Oh I have no doubt in his motivation techniques, just look at the Dutch side you can tell how much they think of him. It's just those extra voices in the dressing room that is important to a team spirit.

That's a Chelsea fan taking the piss by the looks of the CFC in his twitter handle
