PSG probably want to 'upstage' us again like they did with Lucas. Pretty sad really. Lucas might be a great player but they've not got a history of producing players so he might still be a good option.
Wow, that's RAWK level delusion.

Everyone would like to play in one of the best teams in the world." Van Gaal - Manchester United are willing to do anything to catch the Chilean Juve on the plate there is an offer of 35 million pounds, rebounded yesterday from England's indiscretion already had a meeting with the 'agent Fernando Felicevich. Besides Van Gaal follows Vidal from Bayer Leverkusen times when she wanted to take him to his Bayern Monaco. The Dutchman believes the key to a man midfield capable of being decisive under interdiction and good at stage Construction of the game.

Yeah

You'd think so, but when the salary is so colossal, the tax Is going to be mental as well.

Think about it over here, 20% for up to about 31k, then 40% anything 31k to 150k, then 45% over 150k.

Now if a footballer is on 8m a year, it's only the first 150k they "get away with" on the lower figures
45% of 7.85m I huge!
Then imagine 75%!

This is obviously ignoring that these top footballers will have the exact methods to reduce their tax with sneaky legal help...but still..

Okay, so it looks like the 75% rate is only for income over 1 million euro, and only for two tax years (2013 and 2014). Also, the 75% rate is really "only" 50%, because one third of it is for social security, which I assume means it goes towards your retirement/unemployment payments.

Of course, this is still not pocket change. A lot would depend on if di Maria's people consider the social security contribution part of his income. If they do, then it's really only a 50% tax rate, even if di Maria only takes home 25%, which works out to 250k per week -ish. If he insists on taking home 8m right now, then it would be closer to the figures bandied about. But the moral of the story is still that someone called MessiMinutes on Twitter is probably an idiot.

But it's not quite that simple as PSG would pay most of it - see link

The lower limit for the 75% tax is 1m euros.

Also, according to this, this high tax is only for 2013 and 2014. http://www.bbc.com/news/business-25541739

This medical report stuff, how are we supposed to have got a hold of them if we haven't even done anything int terms of agreeing a deal/medical?

This guy's a mod?

No. Mod me for 60 seconds though and i'd ban him. Just to say Ekeke and his sister shouldn't be attacking a fellow poster - poor form. Back to topic, I hope we do sign a winger unless we're gonna give Zaha a chance.

Oh look, a couple of keyboard warriors are starting a fight on the Caf. That usually never happens... :boring:

Anyway, if the medical history story is true then I hope we're serious about getting him.

When someone claims PSG are only interested in Di Maria because United want him then it'd be a sad day if they can't be laughed at for it! United didn't exactly discover an unknown gem!

we were always clasping at straws thinking a 33 year old left back was going to influence any Vidal deal!

It will, United are not foolish. It might not be a swap deal, but of course it's an opportunity to negotiate.

On the one hand, it doesn't matter whether the player or the club pays it, since we're looking at PSG's outlay for his wages. But on the other hand, according to your link, the total amount a company has to pay is limited to 5% of the company's revenue. Assuming, for simplicity of argument, that PSG's wage bill to revenue ratio is 60% (seems typical for a big club) and that all of PSG's players earn more than 1m, then the max of 5% of revenue is only going to bump the wage bill by 5/60 = 1/12 ~ 8%. Which is all rather disappointing. This is assuming that the 5% applies to the sum for all players, rather than for each player, since I think in that case every club in Ligue 1 would immediately go bankrupt.

Havent seen any Tweets with this report, so i thought i'd give a heads up to you good folk. Hope you dont mind Mods

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A hosts of top players, Dutch or otherwise, have been linked to Manchester United since Louis van Gaal was appointed in the Old Trafford hotseat.

Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal has been one of the stars most linked with the Red Devils.

The 27-year-old is hot property in this transfer window after a shining World Cup campaign, with German giants Bayern Munich also thought to be interested in the playmaker.

But despite fierce opposition, the foreign press still believe United to be in pole position to sign the player...

United in ‘advanced talks’ with Vidal’s agent

Chilean newspaper Latercera report that Man United have paved the way for Vidal’s move to Old Trafford after holding significant talks with the player’s representatives.

The Juve man shares the same agent as compatriot Alexis Sanchez, and United are said to have taken advantage of Fernando Felicevich’s presence on English soil, having seen over Alexis Sanchez’s £30million move to Arsenal this week.

Talks reportedly concluded with a player-plus-cash deal on the table, thought to be around £30million together with the transfer of full-back Patrice Evra, who is set to leave Manchester this summer.

Vidal is currently on holiday following his World Cup campaign, and is quoted as saying: "I've heard the rumors, but I won’t speak of it anymore.

“I'm enjoying the holidays and when I return to Italy I'll see what happens, but we all want to play for one of the best teams in the world.
"

Red Devils have quizzed Chile doctors over Vidal’s fitness

Reports in Italy have suggested United have approached doctors from the Chile camp regarding Vidal’s physical condition.

The midfielder underwent major knee surgery just five weeks before the World Cup, having struggled with a long-term problem in his right knee throughout the second half of Juve’s title-winning Serie A campaign.

Vidal played a key part in that win and there were rumours the Italian side had delayed surgery until the end of the season.

He played just 60 minutes of Chile’s World Cup opener against Australia and was doubt for their second tie against Spain, though he eventually started and played 88 minutes in the 2-0 win, a result which knocked the holders out of the competition.

Italian sports paper Corriere dello Sport claim that, despite Vidal’s supposed injury comeback in Brazil, the Red Devils are seeking assurances over his fitness ahead of a £35million cash-only deal for the box-to-box star.

I think the french clubs are in big danger of having lots of problems, especially PSG, furthermore if you are classed as a tax payer in France you have to declare your worldwide income and assets and be taxed thereon. Regarding FFP if PSG think they can get away with it, I believe they are seriously mistaken, and of course fines won't bother them but the further sanctions of limited squads, bans from competitions especially CL will eventually kick in even if it is not straight away

How did you arrive to that figure?

So, i made a mistake in my calculation and had to do it again:

It's roughly 22.7m gross 17.5m net

he is only imposable on 70% of his net salary (12.6m) and the 75% are on the last 11.6m, the first million is taxed at 50%

So i wake up this morning and we have lost Di Maria and the Vidal transfer is becoming more like the Hazards, Lucas Moura's and Thiago's by the minute. We have even had the "great rumours late at night giving hope just to wake up the next morning and all is silent" stage last night/this morning.
I don't think Vidal will happen imo, we will end up with De Jong or someone like that.

How long until some Qatari club buys one of PSG's players for 100 million pounds? Probably someone like Jallet or Thiago Motta - players in the end of their careers.

No mate not Real. I meant PSG. They've already signed Luiz for around 50 million. The reported Di Maria purchase would take them beyond 110 million. This after the sanctions and bogus 200 million per year Qatar Tourism sponsorship deals (the highest genuine deal is United-Chevrolet is about a third of that).. If Michel had any balls or integrity they should be banned for blatant flouting of the rules and undermining the objectives of FFP. Though I doubt it'll happen what with the FIFA/ UEFA politics and Qatar hosting the next World Cup. All this really shows an ugly, corrupt side to the game.
They still have to the end of the transfer window to sell, although nothing has been touted that they intend to.

It is not even close to being the same yet, but hey keep spouting nonsense.

So has LVG and the dutch squad arrived home yet or will they be staying in Brazil for the final? Not that I expect any Caftards to know the Dutch teams travel schedules of course. ;)
