We were never going to have completed all of our business by the start of the tour given that the World Cup was on.
Agree, but with all but 4 teams left in the WC you would of thought that some concrete rumours/bid would of been made now the tour is upon us. Is it the 16th we go?

The media would have picked up more about Pogba's move to Chelsea if things were actually happening. Yes, their interest has been reported multiple times, but such big transfers for huge transfer fees don't develop under the radar.

Exactly, look how much the media picked up on Suarez and Sanchez.

There's still just under 2 months left in the transfer window, so plenty of time for Van Gaal to come in and assess the squad himself. Don't expect us to sign anyone unless the Vidal thing comes to anything in the coming 2 weeks, but after that we'll see. Two big signings at this stage is already pretty good business. We need to start clearing out players too which I think we'll focus on at first before further strengthening.

Yeah. Herrera and Shaw seem a lifetime ago now. Need some muppet juice. Woodward is doing a very good job at keeping business a secret, even credible sources don't know jack. Hope we get the targets we need.

Yeah. Hard to forget what last summer was like, no world cup to keep you distracted, just disappointment after disappointment and in the end we only sign Fellaini of all people  This summer is already a huge improvement so I can't complain too much.

Yep. Even with the Herrera deal, perceived by many as having gone by ''under the radar'', was broken by the local papers first and then quickly picked on by other Spanish papers and English ones - all before Herrera arrived in England. A player like Pogba (a big fish in today's standards, no doubt) cannot complete a deal to a different club without someone breaking the story/leaking it first. We're talking about a huge transfer fee here and negotiations with a side that doesn't want to sell. Things cannot go unnoticed between ''Chelsea interested in Pogba'' and ''Pogba arrives in London for Chelsea move/medical''.

He's just on vacation there/visiting his fecking grandma or whatever even though the meltdown if he goes to Chelsea would be both expected and unbearable.

Really? It's burned into my brain. The day after day of disappointment. Never again.

Or rather I should have said it's hard to complain about this summer after last summers shite, completely wrong choice of words  Was thinking "hard to forget"

Bizarre getting Manquillo on loan when they've got Jenkinson.
I hope Jenkinson goes the other way in a deal for Debuchy. My Newcastle supporting mates will have a breakdown

I'm with you here but apart from Sanchez, apparently it's increadibly slow news day. Like RedBistro said already, there's almost nothing worth posting. The discussions here are quite expected as it's always the most popular thread in the summer.

This ought to be good :

As if Chelsea need another midfielder let alone spunk another £40m+ considering their FFP limits.

What limits?

We've sold over £105m worth of player in De Bruyne (£18m), Mata (£37m), Luiz (£50m) and spent that £92m of the £105m on Fabragas (£28m) and Costa (£32m), Matic (£20m), Zouma (£12m) we are infact making profit along with the fact £500,000 a week has been re-couped from Lampard (£150,000), Cole (£130,000), Essien (120,000) and Terry's reduced wages (from 175,000 to 100,000) means more money can be spent on players this summer. Having read the financial reports with FFP to consider, we could spend over £100m more this summer and still be complying with FFP.

Bertand £8m, Cech (£15m) Mikel £10m, Moses £5m, Marin £5m and other young players like Atsu (£5m), we can sell makes over another £60m in the transfer kitty. Pogba funds are available if Chelsea want, question is do they want to spend it all on one player.

My Italian is quite crap, but if I understand this tweet correctly, Morata will be in Italy next week as the buy-back clause has been agreed. So... Juventus are spending 22 Million on Morata, will sign Evra tomorrow according to Di Marzio and have a 25 Million EUR deal for Iturbe waiting in the pipeline. Something tells me they need money pronto, and we can all guess where it's going to come from. It's very hard not to be positive about our chances to get Vidal IMHO...

...And then you see Pogba's in Chelsea.

A few think Pogba is going to Chelsea

I'm starting to think you guys saw this coming, hence the stockpiling of players out on loan! Great business though really.

You would of thought that any of our targets would of been got by now or very soon. Surely LVG would want them to go on the preseason tour?
Depends on whether they were in the latter stages of the world cup or not. I can't see RVP being there, for example.

Yeah, I've seen the pictures, still not convinced Juventus would sell him in this window... though he will only have a year left on his deal next summer and his value might decrease. Very hard to see a Raiola client signing a new contract with Real, PSG, Chelsea et al. all sniffing around.

It's pathetic that PSG gave you a FFP free pass. Btw why are you so into Pogba? You already have Fabregas, Matic, Ramires, Van Ginkel, a very good combination. I'd rather spend on a world class CB and backup striker tbh.
