Considering our deals so far, there's no chance that we will baulk at that price for Vidal.

You mean John O'Shea?
Every team needs a John O'Shea, even better if you have two John O'Shea's. Of course, most John O'Shea's weren't quite like John O'Shea himself.

That's the mentality we need. Wonder if that means he'll hand over to Klivert for the final game while he does United business.

I should hope not, would be classless and unprofessional.

Surely it wasn't Huntelaar, he scored the pen against Mexico. I think Wijnaldum and Blind.
He wasn't even in the 5 to take against Costa Rica even though he was on the pitch. Vlaar would've took the last one I believe if it had got that far.

Already posted earlier in his video, just thought i'd post it anyways incase anyone missed it.

I have no idea how reliable this guy is, but he also tweeted this:

I was surprised at no Ogden given it's United..
I said it about a week ago, but I'll say it again:

Last year, Ogden was the mouthpiece of United, clearly being spoonfed information by United's staff on Moyes' orders regarding transfers (Fabregas bid, Herrera bid and then the £28m double swoop for Fellaini and Baines).

This year, given the Herrera deal, it doesn't look like that's going to be LVG's policy. Deals will be done silently and it's only when they've been done that we will leak information (although with Herrera it was Spanish stations being leaked information). Therefore almost any "credibility" that journalists have with United is almost entirely useless, they'll be second guessing all these "making a move for/eyeing up" rumours until they have concrete evidence.

I've had that feeling for a while as well.
It doesn't seem like any information regarding transfers are actually being leaked to the english press, most of it seems to have roots in other countries, mainly the Vidal-saga where it seems like most of the information comes from Italy.
Feels a lot like Juventus trying to put pressure on United to meet a set price in order to finance whatever transfers they want to get done.

Huntelaar would've been 5th. He's the best Penalty taker in the squad. There's a reason he took the last minute one versus Mexico, he's the ultimate poacher. Nerves of steel.

How are we put off by £37.5m? I just don't believe that.

I could punch through a wall right now. If they'd ask for 50m, I'd understand. They just made a record kit signing, bought a luxury player (sorry Mata, still love you) for the same money and now this price shit again.

To be fair, I doubt its actually a serious worry. Just journalists writing stuff about a big transfer story to fill page. The classic 'difference in valuation' chat is a standard for writing nothing of value about something.

It would be incredibly frustrating if we aren't willing to go that high... He's worth anything up to 45million IMO, and even 50m would be reasonable considering our need for one and them not needing to sell, let alone 37.5 or 40m.

Standard negotiating tactic. It's rarely for the asking price to be what the first formal offer is. If we leak we're baulking at £37.5 we may well start at £29m and go from there.

If Juventus and United have even talked about a price, then the deal will get done. The only way we don't sign him is if Juventus does not want to sell. If these reports are even remotely true, then Arturo Vidal will be announced as a United player in 2 weeks or less.

Woodward/LVG would not let this one get away.

Haven't you lot ever had a girlfriend? This is just like negotiating special birthday sex. You start off by asking for three shags, two blow jobs and anal (order tbc). Eventually, after much haggling, shouting (her), crying (you) and threats (her) you end up agreeing on a chippy dinner, a movie of your choice that she'll fall asleep during, and a half-hearted hand job (her).

I sort of lost my train of thought in all of that, so I'm not sure what Vidal is in that analogy, but I think it's fair to say this is on.

I know, especially since we just signed a LB for 30 million. If Juve really said we can have him for that price I'd be confident we'd pay it if we had to. we're just looking to bring the price down.

We went in there asking for Vidal and came out settling to sell them Evra for a small fee.

So what you're saying is that we start by demanding Vidal and will eventually end up buying Simone Pepe at a cut price?

Wesley and Arjen. That's the two you'd ask, as senior players and decent penalty takers.
100 percent sure Robben was one of them. He was the captain and most inform player on the pitch. He bottled it just like he probably bottled the pen against Mexico. I see that CL final miss still haunts him.

We pay £30 million for an 18 year old left back, but are put off by a £37 million fee for one of the best midfielders in the world?

No I'm sorry, I don't believe a world of that.

:wenger:

If we paid 27m for Fellaini (who I do think is a usable and good player, but not 27m) surely we can go 10m more than that for the best player in his position, which is Arturo Vidal.

I think we just need to use our heads sometimes - we are debating here which is fine, but we paid same amount for Mata (£37m I think it was?) who plays in #10 or left whatever, then we sign Shaw and Herrera for top dollars.

Why would anyone believe that we will hesitate to pay £37m for a top player who plays In a role that we need to strengthen badly. I don't think it's the fee which is holding up the deal, player needs to be convinced plus there must be other clubs after hime, Bayern are losing Kroos and you never know with Madrid. Maybe Vidal and his agent is waiting to see how things work out with other offers before giving us green light.
