Yeah, as poor as he is, maybe we should have kept him. Not reliable for a string of games but has the odd good game in him - vs Bayern at OT.

You want your back up full backs to be reliable. With an 18 year old like Shaw first choice, then it's even more important. Buttner isn't, sadly.

Buying two left backs this summer was always realistic given our situation.

This is true. Be interesting to see who it is..

Not a 'great' player anymore either. Kagawa, Mata and perhaps Rooney - all better in his role.

I actually thought he was their MotM the last game after a few ordinary outings, he might be a aspiring diva overly concerned with his bank account balance but I'll give him this.. hes a big game player, but as you say I don't believe hes even the type of player LvG is looking for right now. (from reports)

Evra leaving would explain Vermaelen, really. Shaw still gets the lion's share of matches with Vermaelen providing cover at LB and CB.

There would be no sense in signing Rodriguez for 20m+.

It's why I wouldn't sell Fletcher as readily as some seem willing to. He can be an extremely important squad man for Van Gaal going forward.

Fletch could have had a great & healthy summer, so he deserves a chance to see how he is during pre-season.

If anyone deserves it, then its Fletch - considering all that the poor fella's been through. He's better than Cleverely & Fellaini anyway..
