How about £40m + Nani and Young. That's 200k a week off our wage, we can use to pay Vidal's salary.

We need players who want to be here and are willing to play for the shirt rather than a pay day for a stepping stone elsewhere, as Pogba would see us. I'm not saying everyone we sign has to stay for 5 years or else is a mercenary but I could do without players who want to spend a season or two before getting bored and moving on.

World's best midfielder isn't worth 50m quid according to you? okay.

Yeah, he's not. First of all, it is debateable wether someone would consider Vidal the world's best midfielder. He certainly is in the top 5 though.

Vidal is 27, which means that we'd get a few years out of his best till his decline - which could be going pretty fast, since alot of his game relies on physical attributes.

Additionally: If Kroos, a 24 year old midfielder, who is arguably in the top 10 of midfielders, is available for 25m, 50m for Vidal does sound insane.

Besides of that, I'm not 100% sold on the fact that Vidal is the player we need right now. I'd rather see a more defensive player being brought in. Besides of that we had better success with bringing young players in (bar Van Persie). I'd rather see us sign Tielemans from Anderlecht e.g.

Tielemans is nowhere near ready for United starting position to be fair. Big talent though.

Bizarre logic in that post. You really value players this way?

Vidal is in my opinion exactly what we need, therefore I don’t really care how much we pay for him.

Kroos had a year left on his contract, so you can't compare the prices.

Just one thing, Kroos is going so cheaply because he's out of contract in a year.

£45m + Nani = £45m :smirk:

Add up what Nani's contract is & that £45m figure is seriously reduced - what him goin will save us in wages. He must be on around £120k per week or more.

He seems the type that would wound down his contract to milk the shit out of the wages. He wont get those wages anywhere else thats for sure..

He only signed a new 4/5 year deal this year or just before the new year, so if you add his wages up for the remainder of his contract - thats:

£120k x 208 wks (4 years) = £24,960,000

It certainly looks a helluva lot sweeter a deal if you think about that the wages gettin rid of Nani would save us & that £120k per week is only a guess - it could be £150k per week, which is another £6,240,000 & over £31m saved in total wages..

Effectively we'd be gettin Vidal for £14m
;)

120k per week is Ashley Young money and very few players at the club actually have the quality to earn that. Only players on a similar level to Young such as Juan Mata earns around that, he earns 130k per week.

Nani is on 95k per week and then to that figure you quoted you must add Vidal's 250k or whatever it will take.

So £45m + Nani = £60m because Nani is worth £15m in my opinion.

£60m - Nani's wages = £40.2m

£40.2 + Vidal's wages (assume four year contract) = £92.2m

Effectively we'd be getting Vidal for £92.2m

None of this takes into account agent fees and signing on bonuses etc.

Steady on mate - i'm just tryin to get rid of Nani & it was workin out fine, until you came along with your fancy calculator giving it all that..

Price don't matter. If we want the best, I doubt Madrid buying Zidane when he was 29. Vidal's 27 but he could play on for 5+ years easy and we've talented midfielders in the youth set up so let's get it done.

It was said very early on that we're out of the running due to a lack of CL football.

Short sighted on the players behalf. Also would have been interesting to see how much an extra 8 games (let's be honest, Arsenal aren't going to win it anyway) stack up against an extra 30/40k a week.
