Bet we end up with Vermaelen and De Jong to round off our summer business. And it started with such hope when the Herrera and Shaw deals went through...

We have Mata, Kagawa, Rooney, RvP, Januzaj, Welbeck, Chicharito, Wilson, Lawrence, Lingaard, Young, Valencia,Nani as our attacking options right now. After this WC I definitely trust LvG to get the best out of this players. Maybe not good enough to take on the likes of Real or Bayern, but we aren't in the CL anyway.

A quick reminder that Mike Keegan, like everyone else, knows absolutely nothing regarding our transfer plans. Notice the reliable journalists remain quiet.

Even if he does know about our transfer plans, at this stage it's redundant to say "they're only aiming to bring in two more".

Louis hasn't had a single fecking training session yet. There's dead wood to identify and cull, players to offload, wages to free up. Lots of games before the end of the window for our centrebacks to show demonstrate how injury prone they are etc.

When he sees Fellaini, Fletcher, Cleverley, Anderson, Nani, Young and Valencia up close for the first time that two could easily turn into six.

Do you guys not want Adnan to kick on? Signing another attacking player wont help him much.

Nani is past his expiration date with us, Valencia should be a back up option, Kagawa has not proved himself here, Young is shit.

Mata, Welbeck, Januzaj are all likely wide options too this season - whether you agree with it or not.

Still feels like we are missing something out wide.

Dunno, I can't help but feel Mata may have to feature there a lot which would leave another spot. Kagawa definitely has quality to offer.

Van Gaal loves to turn careers around and prove people wrong about a player (Nani, Valencia and Young) and prides himself on playing home grown players (Januzaj, Welbeck).

Welbeck and Valencia are quick and work hard, I think Van Gaal will give both a fair chance as at basic level they suit how he generally likes to play.

Obviously if there is no end product he may look elsewhere but it possibly won't be this window whilst we have so many options.

By the way, I agree.. I want quality out wide. I just think there's a good chance he will wait and see what we have first.

I doubt we will play a formation that requires 2 wingers, so more than likely, 2 wingers will be enough for next season.

James Duckers is very reliable, he tweeted this few days ago.

No problem. We'll activate Reus' buyout clause next season. :D

Even from Ducker that's such an ambiguous statement. Anyone can tell you that a CB and a midfielder are going to be our top targets.

Agreed. I get the impression (as another poster previously suggested) Van Gaal will utilize fullbacks in an attacking role, which may mitigate the need to spend a lot of money on a Hollywood winger. The likes of Valencia and Nani, and even Young may be adequate to rotate in as wingers (although I'm fairly confident one of the three will be sold). It may also give Zaha a new lease on life.

Key is "at least two more players". Centre half and another CM are our top targets, but if there's a player in another position who's too good to miss out on, I imagine we'll at least be very interested.

I think it makes more sense if we spread our budget over coming transfer windows. I mean let's try to look at bigger picture here, as long as we finish top 4 with few signings (2 more) then I think we will be back on right track. We can always add to our squad next summer or January transfer window. Van gaal can asses our current first team and youth players, who knows he might promote few from youth set up and surprise us all. He has done it in past. There is no quick fix, we are not Madrid/city etc...

Forget about van Gaal for a second. We have no idea who he really wants to keep (maybe apart from Valencia as he signed a contract).

Young and Kagawa, IMO are not Manchester United players. Shinji is talented but is too passive and Young would rather dive before taking a shot one on one against a keeper. He's a coward.

I have given Valencia a lot of criticism this year just gone, however now this season has passed I'm willing to give him another chance. He has proven before he is a United player and always keeps going. Also, Moyes hasn't helped him this season just gone. Nani needs to move on. It's gone stale with him and it isn't going to work long term.

Mata, Welbeck and Januzaj are three players who I feel are United players and if I had the choice, would stay here for the rest of their careers. Three quality players, however one is a teenager who will be inconsistent, one is a striker who is also inconsistent and the other is more of a AM. Kagawa will get another chance but I don't see it with him. I'd rather get a winger in and get rid of Young and Kagawa.

Hopefully the fortunes of all of these players improve next season. However, if we are to move up in an attacking sense, a Di Maria or Sanchez would be needed IMO.

Yeah it's all a bit confusing, according to reports Sanchez turned us down because of no champions league football. Which indicates that we did try to sign hime (winger).

If we did to try to sign him then it will more likely be a case of a player being available that you buy at all cost, bit like Mata.
Its all a bit wishy washy though, Im not totally convinced that we went in for him, not until the player himself states that he turned us down.

Says the guy who gave 3 yellow cards to a player in one game

It's irrelevant what Poll did. The ref in that game had an unforgivable homer game, it was blatant that he was going to allow Brazil to hack Rodriguez at every opportunity. Not even Uruguay play that dirty over 90mins. It was relentless.

They were lucky against Croatia and they were extremely lucky tonight, should have been quite a few yellows, and that just from the first half..

Van Gaal is in a shock when he see's how bad our wide players are in pre season. Our interest in Vermaelen makes no sense even when fit his above average at best surely we could find someone better. That CM better be Vidal or that's an underwhelming end to our business.

If we are only going to sign a CB and a CM, that would mean we won't be signing a winger. That would indicate that Young is staying. :(
