Manchester United have been told they can sign midfield target William Carvalho this summer - but he will cost them £37million. The Portugal international has a release clause in his contract at Sporting Lisbon and will leave if anyone triggers it. Sky sources understand he is one of the targets United’s new boss Louis van Gaal is considering as he looks to add another midfielder after signing Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao last week.

It's utter gash this didn't play nonsense.

He'd just started to regularly feature from the bench for one thing. If he'd stayed that summer he'd have been right in the thick of selection the next year. Just not on the wedge Juventus were offering.

You are right, he was clearly in Ferguson's plans, he was training with the first team for years, i don't know why he choose to change his agent and refused to sign a contract that he negociated and accepted. But that has nothing to do with playing time.

Once Raiola took over, there was no chance whatsoever that pogba would stay. I don't think it was only for financial issues. I can see fergie not wanting someone like raiola around (and i don't blame him).
On the other hand Raiola stood to gain more if his new customer chose a new club.

I dont know if he is actually working on the official site or not? His bio seems to suggest it. He is followed by that pilib de brun guy. Not on the blacklist so posting.

£37m way overpriced but go for it. Like with Shaw, it could look a bargain in 5 years.

'She cannee take the strain' showed up on my screen. I thought we signed Vidal.

Presumably the consequence of no WC game!

Most of this is just a repetition of what the Sporting director has been saying. Bit at the end caught my eye though, about Carvalho being left off the clubs promotional pictures for next season.... interestingggg...

I think it will boil down to how much of a certainty we think he is to make it here. If we're very confident, I think we'll find a way to do a deal, though at least after trying to negotiate them down to around £25-30m. If we have doubts, I think we'll walk away from that asking price.

I read that the initial 'talks' with van Gaal about becoming Manager were said to have taken place at his holiday home in Portugal. Given he has a home in the country, he may well have seen a bit of Carvalho this season himself and could be driving the deal.

Carvalho @ 37 looks more overpriced than Shaw @ 30 imo. Shaw proved himself in the epl while carvalho still has not. That s an extra risk utd must consider before forking out the cash. His value is nearer to 25m imo.

Why does everyone think we won't go for Vidal and Carvalho?

Price isn't even the issue here. If we play a midfield 3 it will be a defensive midfielder, a box to box midfielder and a playmaker and the box to box is already Herrera and the playmaker is Mata. Only one player is missing.

Carvalho 37m, Herrera 27-30(depending where you read), Vidal 30-50 (depending where you read)

to go with Mata 37m and Fellaini 27m

Big.

Could you imagine if it did happen? The collective whack off would big enough to put porn hub out of business.
I'd go to every single available computer, open redcafe and continue with the following -

Can't be, Pogba was born and raised in France. I can only think he was extremely disrespectful to SAF somehow.

If we take that tweet seriously (big if, I know), the reason he left also rules out Pogba > Chelsea. Don't see how any specific football-related reason would do that, unless he managed to insult both SAF and Mourinho in one go.

RAC in Spain report that no Barcelona players will be used in the purchase of Luis Suarez.

But even though we aren't in Europe next season we could still have potentially 60 odd games? They can't play em all they'd be knackered

If true, do we think that gives a fair indication that Sanchez has turned down the chance to join Liverpool as stated in the rumours earlier today?

Aye I'd imagine so as most things coming out of Spain regarding him seem to suggest he doesn't wanna go there.

Newspapers keep saying that Carvalho price is 37M pounds but surely his release clause is in Euros.

So is it 37MEuros or 37MPounds? Big difference. I don't have either symbol on this US keyboard.
