I can't give you an exact number, but it's over ten. I can say that I have seen him playing very impressive in games also in games he has looked like a good footballer and not just strong, defensive midfielder. But, I have also seen him beeing clumpsy, like the last game in the WC. The thing is that he is just not a good enough technical in any way for me to be even close to justify the price tag. It is just not serious for me at all.

I think he has a future in a good league, but he is just not a top player and I can't see how he will ever be.

Take note of iBoss on how to ask a question

Well you can't have seen him that much considering the Ghana game is the worst he's played all year and he's been nowhere close to that poor in any game. He's dominated 99% of matches and it's pretty evident he'll go on to be something special. Your assessment of 'solid defensively but poor technically' is something you'd typically attribute to a defensive midfielder and you wouldn't have to watch most of them to say that but in his case you're wrong. He's calm on the ball, got a cool head, can pick a pass and can drive forward if he's in a tactic where he's given the freedom to. He's not a clumsy player at all.

Essentially I agree with everything you said. There are question marks are over whether he's even available, whether we'd have a chance of getting him and how much he'd cost. If there was a chance of getting him I'm sure we'd go for it. Otherwise for balance's sake it seems like we're after a holder and there's good as no chance we'd sign both.
If he were on the cards, I think we'd go with what we've got as far as midfield is concerned and wait for Strootman in January with Carrick having half a season to prove his worth in the meantime.

Also, for at least half of the games we play in the PL, having a DM isn't really necessary as we should be putting teams on the back foot and making them work hard in their own half. With no Rio or Vidic here now, we should also be going back to our traditional super high defensive line and LVG likes a CB to be technically good enough to be a sweeper or DM type who can play up and out of defence and sit in midfield when he has to.

We'll be a different animal next season and I think our midfield will primarily revolve around ball retention, pressing and taking the game to the opposition.

People were making comments like this about Strootman a while back when I was in the newbies, one season at Roma and he's all the rave. You can't be too premature with you judgement of these young'uns.

Very different players, Strootman is much more intelligent and much more technically gifted. The thing with Strootman is if he can play in a midfield two at United (Carvalho has the presence to do that). Strootman is good enough as a footballer and I think Carvalho is not and he might not every become good enough.

The thing With both of them is that many has never seen them play, but the insane price of Carvalho has made people just og for the conclusion that he is a great footballer. If people are expecting the next Yaya or a Vidal they will be in for one hell of a let down.

It's amazing how quickly people become 'experts' on these young, foreign players. Most of us haven't got a clue but some are lamenting the signing already

Much like Herrera...

I don't know. He seems to have the right attributes, we have follecahim, scouted him. If the decision was made that he's the right player and is as good as some people seem to think, I believe we'll be willing to spend quite a bit on him.

Yep, I think Ogden mentioned in a tweet last week that we'd privately denied interest in Hererra this summer, until the point it became public knowledge the deal was nearly done.

It could be we've done the same with Carvalho.

Bebe + 20m for Carvalho?
Nani + 35m for Vidal?

100m spent, the rest on a reliable CB and an up and coming one? 30-40m? Then round it all off with a winger Sanchez 30m? Spent 170-180m spent. Back into contention

180m!!!

There is absolutely no way we are going to spend that much on one window. I think we will spend over 100m but not much more.

The level of muppetry knows no bounds these days.

If our ambition is to be contending for the title and ensure we are back in Europe then yes we will have to spend that kind of money. We've already spent almost 60m on two players.

You forgot midfield 2.

I always thought it was quite odd how, when Moyes was manager, that we did indeed play Stoke on a Wednesday night....And it was cold. And it was raining and wet. And it was windy. And it was snowing. And there was hail. And there was sleet........Man is cursed.

But yeah, midfield 2...Bloody hell, that one bugs me something serious

It baffles me the figures some people are coming out with, we won the league a year ago and were very unfortunate not to have gone further in Europe. Within 12 months and a stint from a shit manager we now need to spend just south of £200mil to even be in contention! In reality the only real losses we've suffered are Vidic and Fergie. We've replaced the manager with one of similar quality so we can't be that far behind!

SolidState is a ITK I'll have you know.

He's just going by the news from a group of ITK accounts on twitter, in fairness they got the Luke Shaw signing on Friday completely right.

 He got called out on his BS. Awesome.

The numpty kept posting pics of Herrera "at carrington" that were from 2012, and pictures of Luke Shaw "at carrington" when it was Soton's training ground.

Think he's a Tancredi type after the last few days.

This. I see us spending big on one more player probably Carvalho, people thinking we wee going to spend £150m-£200m are insane. Malcom would be turning in his grave

Which ITK group? I remember the Herrera tweets, they were so cringy. He's so desperate to be ITK and for people to follow him. Thing is, he doesn't know shit.

Who is this Serge anyway?
He knows feck all. He was at Carrington the other week taking pictures of the security staff and random vans… and him charging his phone…

Saying a load of shit like Shaw was on his way to Carrington and he was there to get the pics first for his followers.

Needless to say, he didn't get shit.

That @corrienationstr guy I think? Or something along those lines. He's not a genuine ITK anyway, hasn't a clue.

. @PortuBall Apparently after that he flew to Spain! He is in Marbella. Went there to sign a swedish guy.

Anyone else get the feeling this guy should be on the banned list?

Says the person posting another one of his tweets.
