Thought he looked pretty ordinary vs GhanaCarvalho? Impressive for Portugal. Ran the show and won every challenge he went in for. Still would prefer Vidal

Who was thier second group game? He changed the game in that match.

Does it exist?I honestly can't remember it's the game where marillas was playing like a donkey and he came on for him.

Rather have Vidal
Bebe + 20m for Carvalho?
Nani + 35m for Vidal?
100m spent, the rest on a reliable CB and an up and coming one? 30-40m? Then round it all off with a winger Sanchez 30m? Spent 170-180m spent. Back into contention

@SolidState Wrong team bro.
assume he means Meireles - or however you spell it!
Noooooooooo the one that plays for Portugal, big beard used to play for Chelsea, fairly uselessMirallas? Belgium? Origi?
Easy mistake I guess?

This Carvalho rumour is so odd, it came out of nowhere. I don't us paying what they want.
Me too. Didn't stand out at all in that game.
He was not ordinary, he was horrible. The ball control was very poor and was poor at everything else.
He has gotten a reputation way beyond what he deserve, part because he has performed in a poor league and part because people are getting fooled by a insane price tag.

For the sake of balance a DM makes much more sense than another box to box player. We all love Vidal but if we're talking types of players Herrera is more likely to be Vidal's alternative.
Agree with the latter, Vidal is just class. I was under the impression though that Herrera was a slightly more offensively minded box to boxer.I think Herrera is closer to a more mobile Carrick, while Vidal is Roy Keane mk2.
In fairness he wasn't the worst in a pathetic finals showing by the Portugeezers...None of them looked arsed! He was not ordinary, he was horrible. The ball control was very poor and was poor at everything else.

People were making comments like this about Strootman a while back when I was in the newbies, one season at Roma and he's all the rave. You can't be too premature with you judgement of these young'uns. He was not ordinary, he was horrible. The ball control was very poor and was poor at everything else.

Hes nothing like Carrick, almost definitely been bought as the box to box midfielder. He's capable of playing deeper but Herrera was always more offensive minded and a creative player, basically exactly what we have missed in a central midfielder. Someone who's very good on the ball, can run with it, play splitting passes but is good defensively and is energetic.I think Herrera is closer to a more mobile Carrick, while Vidal is Roy Keane mk2.
You are definitely right, if the rumours are true I will not be complaining...I just don't agree that he had an impressive showing at the finals..None of that team did!People were making comments like this about Strootman a while back when I was in the newbies, one season at Roma and he's all the rave. You can't judge him on just those World Cup performances.
Otherwise Januzaj would be considered awful.
There's no way you forgo Vidal for the sake of balance. If anything, he's a player you build the rest of midfield around and make it work. For the sake of balance a DM makes much more sense than another box to box player. How many times have you seen him play then?He was not ordinary, he was horrible. The ball control was very poor and was poor at everything else.

There's nothing really indicating that he is or was ever up for sale though, so there's no need for us to get our knickers in a twist, because you might as well be complaining that we haven't signed Messi and Ronaldo. There's no way you forgo Vidal for the sake of balance. Besides, Vidal and Herrera could play in a 2-man set-up in a variety of ways, be it as part of a 4-4-4-2, 4-2-3-1 or as two behind the one in a 4-3-3.
Tactically, there's quite a few workarounds with those two playing together especially as we're not in Europe next season.
Essentially I agree with everything you said. There are question marks are over whether he's even available, whether we'd have a chance of getting him and how much he'd cost. If there was a chance of getting him I'm sure we'd go for it. Otherwise for balance's sake it seems like we're after a holder and there's good as no chance we'd sign both. There's no way you forgo Vidal for the sake of balance. Was addressing the point of getting a "DM" over Vidal for the sake of balance if that was an option. There's nothing really indicating that he is or was ever up for sale though, so there's no need for us to get our knickers in a twist, because you might as well be complaining that we haven't signed Messi and Ronaldo.

And you're basing this off the 90 minutes against Ghana I presume?
