Poor old Southampton will need a new squad.
I do agree but I think there are certain players that you should try and sign regardless of your immediate needs if they become available.
Guaranteed there will be more than one signing.I dont think so, having too many new faces to play in our preferred system would be just asking for more trouble. One cannot blame the manager in such a scenario since it takes time for the new faces to blend into a new team and environment. One more signing should be enough!
Rooney is a striker. Sanchez is a winger and he's better than any winger we have. We need 3 or 4 more signings
He is hardly your typical winger who likes to spread wide and try crossing from the wings. Like majority of wingers nowadays who possess speed they try to cut into the box and influence the game. Even if we sign him he will be competing with either mata or kagawa for a place on the pitch.
Value for money in my opinion. Transfer records tumble all the time in this era.for 50+million making his our costliest signing ever?

No he won't. He would compete with Januzaj, Welbeck, Valencia and Nani. Mata will play through the centre and Shinji will cover him, more than likely.
Sanchez has pretty much a free role when he plays for Chile, but can play all along the front line.
your talking like we have moyes in charge. We will be playing different next season. More than likely 4-3-3 Even if he was competing with Kagawa for a place on the wing Sanchez is superior as a winger. I see Mata and Kagawa maybe playing central myself. He is hardly your typical winger who likes to spread wide and try crossing from the wings. Don't really know what that means but it's my opinion. David Luiz cost the same amount ffs. That is just fifa talk, imo
We aren't going to be targeting an orthodox winger. If van Gaal opts for a 4-3-3 as many are suggesting, there are few players who would perform better as a wide forward and it would provide an alternative goal-threat in the side than that of just our forwards. A winger/wide forward who can score 15+ goals a season would be worth so many points over the course of a season, especially someone of Sanchez's ability. He is hardly your typical winger who likes to spread wide and try crossing from the wings. I do think we could do with another goal-scoring player, but a forward clearly isn't needed. Herrera has a pretty dire goal-scoring player and if we sign another central midfielder he is likely to be more defensive-minded. It could be a bit of a hindrance next season if we have just one avenue of goals and although we have to prioritise defence and central midfield first and foremost, if we target a winger, we should target a goal-scorer IMO.
Nah, just think Alexis is worth £50m. Was Mata worth the amount we paid, was Herrera or Shaw? Alexis is definitely worth more than all of them.It means you are talking like a teenager who spends way too much time playing fifa manager. Neither is our club psg nor is david luiz worth 45mill. It would be irresponsible of us to spend so much when we already have handful of options in his position.
He will, but it's highly likely he would be the only midfielder of our current batch to hit those figures. A wide player isn't essential, but all our other wingers besides Januzaj are simply dross or unreliable. I agree that it isn't a critical area like another midfielder or centre back, but I don't think signing Sanchez would effect further incomings. Call me naive, but I genuinely think we have a lot of money at our disposable as signing the most expensive teenager in world football would suggest.I have my money on mata to score 10+ goals for us next season. If we are going to buy someone it should be to replace fletcher or carrick when they hang up their boots. Maybe bringing in a CB makes sense since rio and vida are no longer at the club.

I'm not saying they aren't worth their fee, I'm asking you what you think is decent value. I'm showing examples of the money it takes to get good players. Alexis is one of the best around and is coming off the back of an excellent World Cup.But it makes very little sense going by your example that if Mata or shaw or hererra aren't worth their fee, how does sanchez automatically justify his heafty price tag
