I think Scholes makes a fair point about Jesse. During pre-season I thought he was the standout youth talent and would go onto score for a few times for the first team.

Yeah, Scholes probably doesn't follow the academy and u21s as closely as loads of fans do (or at least he didn't while he was still playing) and as such his opinion was heavily based on pre-season. Still, we did the right thing by sending Jessie to the Championship - he's a tougher, more experienced player for it.

Can't help but feel that Lallana could be Liverpool's Ashley Young. Did very well at a mid-table team, bought for a big fee but I can see him struggling with the step up. Or maybe I'm discrediting Lallana a little bit.
He won't improve their first IX but he's a good enough player to not be a flop and Liverpool lack depth so in that sense he's a welcome addition for them.

Enjoyed the Herrera transfer more as that kinda came of the blue and was a surprise while Shaw has been rumbling on since the last day of the season.

Living in Southampton, the swift change in opinions of Shaw have been hilarious. Last season he was the best left back in the league and best young left back in Europe. Now he can't defend and he's overrated.

Wonder if thats it for transfers or if we've got some more in the pipeline, possibly after the World Cup?

I'd expect one possibly two after the WC. There's a lot of players tied up right now, the Club will be looking at a few things.

Can't see Herrera and Shaw being our only transfers. I'm guessing we'll be going for a CB, another CM and a Winger before the window closes. I'd imagine we'll want to get the deals done quickly to help the players bed in over the summer and to avoid anymore deadline day drama (though you can't beat a good deadline day!)

Yes, but as a fan that doesn't matter. They're losing all their best players.
Definitely feel a bit for them.

And it's not really something United fans can understand. Whenever we lose someone we'd much rather keep it's usually just the one player (not four or five and the manager) and due to our position we can replace them that same summer with similar quality.

The money wont matter to Southampton fans, because it's not tangible to them. It's easy to suggest they can just replace them with similar quality, but we saw how that worked out for Aston Villa.

I expect transfer activity to kick off when players come back from the WC. Shaw was completed a day after England came back.

I think after we sign Shaw things will go quiet again for a bit until the players we want come back from the World Cup.

Can't help but feel for Southampton. Had a good season but are probably going to lose their best players. Although they are getting great fees for both players.

Rumors before the World Cup was that Liverpool were interested in Lambert, Lallana and Lovren. They've now got the first two, anymore rumours of them getting Lovren? He is not a bad player and the price being quoted wasn't that crazy.

They have previous for this, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Bale, just not usually this many at once. It's a shame that each time they produce a good player other teams cherry pick them. If they use the money well it will make sure they stay in the PL. Mjust be frustrating for Saints fans as they appear to be a feeder club for the rest of the PL.

Yep that's very true. Admiration for the way they continue to produce homegrown talent.
