What is this bollocks? For example, the year we bought Jones, De Gea and Young we had a negative net spend?

All this stuff about us spending money. So what, we need players and yes we are being overpriced due to our needs and Ed spouting about how much money we have but so be it.
Check out transferleague.co.uk shows all our purchases. I have just looked at it since summer 09. We have made purchases if we include Di Maria of 232,600,000m when deducting player sales. That works out at about 46.5m a year spent.

It is a fictional chart.

2005/6 we brought in Van Der Sar, Park, Foster, Vidic and Evra - Park was confirm at 4m and the rest were unconfirmed. Vidic and Evra were ballpark 11m between them, and Van Der Sar was ballpark 2m. To recoup this we sold Kleberson for 2.5m, and Phil Neville for an undisclosed amount to Everton, which according to that chart amounted must have amounted to about 25m

2006/7 we brought in Carrick for 13m rising to 18m (Kuszczak was on loan to us this season). We sold Ruud for 10.2m, Ebanks Blake for 200k, and a bunch of dross (and Tim Howard) for undisclosed sums (Howard went for 6-7, didn't he?). To be fair this year we probably did have a negative net spend.

2007/8 we had Nani and Anderson for a combined 30m, Kuszczak for 2.125m, Tevez loan fee of 10m and Hargreaves for about 14m. To make this up we sold Alan Smith, Shawcross and Bardsley for a combined 9m and got undisclosed fees for Richardson, Heinze, Rossi and Pique. To get anywhere near a negative net spend we'd have to have made about 50m from those four undisclosed fees.

2008/9 we got Berba for 30.75m, the twins for 1.5m each (?), and however much Tosic and de Laet cost us. To fund this we sold Silvestre to Arsenal for less than a million, Chris Eagles to Burnley and Louis Saha to Everton for less than a million.

Basically, it is fictional.

12m euro deal for De Jong is a rumour I've just seen, anybody reliable reporting that?

I haven't seen anything, but for 12m euro, it'd be a good stopgap. We need a mean fecker who can protect the defense well. He'll do the job fine, and under LVG he'll probably be given some decent tactics to do it effectively.

I'm leaning torwards the idea of getting De Jong and Blind, simply to get 2 midfielders in who know what to do in that system already.

"KICK HIM!! KICK HIM!!!"

*BANG!!!*

"Ha, you she that Ryan?!....I told him to do datch"

Marca also suspect the same thing apparently.

Medical tonight, paperwork, then official tomorrow is what they say.

Sounds like a plausible timeline, or it would be a very late announcement.

12 million is alot, he wants to leave and he is on a one year deal, 30 years old. Why do I always have the feeling every team is charging us a premium tax on whatever we are spending. I'd say 6-8 milion euros is about right for De Jong considering the circumstances. I bet you any other team could get him for a figure in that area, but we are paying 12 mil euros...Now I don't mind the couple of million as I know we got plenty but it is just an assessment, we are systematically overpaying for anyone now.

Calm down dear, it's just a twitter rumour. :D

Seriously, yes if true that is a bit high priced, but let's see if there is any truth to it before getting too worried about the fee, or for some the transfer itself.

We put ourselves in that situation, so now we don't really have another choice. Pay it or get left behind.
