Guys who criticise Blind, Blind is so much better than Strootman was in his last year at PSV.
Blind has a talent for proving people wrong. He has done it for most of his career. People said he was rubbish in his first few years at Ajax but he emerged as their best player by some distance. People said he was too slow and it would be diaster if he played wing back for Holland at the world cup but he made it into the best world cup 11.

Now they're saying he isn't good enough for Utd. We should all know how Blind will respond by now.

Yeah, Fergie was disastrous for United.

Fecking hell.

No, he was incredible. But everything has to end sometime. Trying to mix Fergie philosophy with Van Gaal philosophy will not lead us into the new path we have to take. Can you seriously not see that?

I'm not one of those people who think Fergie should stay away from the club, not be a director, not come to matches, not be involved. But the football department - that's finished.

Good post. Remember having Sir Matt around after his retirement didn't exactly prove fruitful.

Barca are also in for Di Maria? Do they need him? With a front 3 possibly consisting of Suarez, Messi and Neymar (christ!) and a midfield of Iniesta, Busquets and Rakitic, where would Di Maria go? No player there will be looking to be a rotation option. Not that it matters, as it's largely unlikely that Madrid will sell a player to Barca anyway. Especially a player that the fans don't want to lose to begin with.

They're probably doing it to piss off Madrid but if it works out then all the better for them

To be fair, we all said the same about Zaha and that is now looking like a huge waste of money.

We should still be able to recoup most of what we paid for him tho.
Players in the region of 8-12m shouldn't be considered huge risks imo, considering how much we generate, taking a punt at talents in the price range could be well worth it, as long as it's a calculated risk.

Who else are we signing then? Need at least one CM and another defender.
I think we'll be set for defence. We'll probably switch to a back 4 if we get Di Maria. Rafael/Valencia/Jones for right back, Jones/Smalling and Evans/Rojo/Blackett for center backs, Shaw/Rojo for left back too. Most of them are injured at the moment of course but it's only small niggles for most of them and I think if we bought someone else, we'd have to sell one of the center backs.

Herrera, Carrick and Fletcher are good options in midfield, then we have Cleverley and Fellaini and Anderson who are a bit useless. So yeah, I'd agree there that more depth there would be ideal. I think we'll go for Strootman in January, so a De Jong signing right now would be ideal (or Blind even). Someone who won't expect to be a starter long term, just a squad player, as Herrera and Strootman will probably be the 2 main midfielders in the long run. Carrick, Fletcher and Blind/De Jong as the back ups.

Dont think we'd need both De Jong and Blind, seems like overkill.

De Jong/Blind and Di Maria would be a good end to the window though.

Translate
This is the google translation: Phenomenon Di Maria, must flee when the decision makers do not appreciate. That feeling is nonnegotiable.

Now you know why I did not put that in the post:lol:
