If we`re signing this lad we have to go 4-3-3.

Anderson, we'll be very lucky to get anything for him. Cleverley's wages are probably close to 50kish and as for Valencia, Giggs rates him highly is my guess.
Were we ever going to get anything high for Anderson? Its not about the money, it is more to do with the roster space and wages. If we got £5m we have done brilliantly. Whether we let him for £1m or £5m, whats the difference? Absolutely nothing because the club is capable of £4m making in their sleep. He is in his last year of his contract, so why not move him along even if its for a low price, get a player and his wages of the roster and bring in someone else or at least promote one of our youngsters.

I think Giggs is in the Fergie mould where he is tied to sentimentality. Like Rio said Giggs wanted him to stay and now giving Valencia a new contract.

Rio didn't say that. Harry Redknapp did.

And Rio would have left with LVG approval and Valencia contract would have been given with the same.

I think LVG had planned 3-5-2 already and hence Valencia contract and straight away using him there regularly.

Sentimentality is good when it comes to club legends I guess but not deadwood. I wouldnt have minded if Rio stayed on especially since we were losing Vidic.

Who'd buy him? I know we were never going to get anything high for him, but it's doubtful we'll be able to get anything at all. We sent him to Fiorentina on loan in attempt to get him some playing time and he flopped. Nobody will take the risk.

That's a big concern if he's your next manager.

Why does LvG having a connection with Strootman mean Roma are any more likely to sell him mid-season? Especially when they'll be in the CL and will be pushing for the title.

Not to mention they also said something like he wont go for less than 100m

It will be much easier to sign Vidal, imo Juventus want to cash in but we just don't seem interested.

When was the last time Bebe or Macheda even played for us? Buttner, yes! And we haven't moved Nani. We are still paying his wages for ffs! We still have to find a club for him next summer? Why sign him to a five year contract last summer? And regarding Anderson and the big lump, rumors doesn't equal they are moving.
Fair enough, but it is still shifting out players that aren't good enough to play for Manchester United. Whether they start regularly or not. I'm pretty sure that Ando and Fellaini will be gone come sept 1st. Be nice to see Cleverley gone imo. Still 9 days left, anything can happen. Only takes 24 hours to sign a players doesn't it Ed...

On the contrary, LvG said that 4-3-3 is his preferred formation but he does not have the required personnel and thus he adopted the 3-5-2. No one is denying that Valencia's contract extension would have had LvG's approval but he would have been guided by Giggs' recommendation. That is what I meant that Giggs seemed to be the sentimental type who stands by players even if they need to be moved on.

I don't think so. Suarez was less serious of the two. Also Vidal has the surgery around May 8th or 9th and Suarez had his around May 23rd or 24th. Yet Suarez came back earlier than Vidal did to play in the World Cup. Two weeks makes a big difference.

You're somewhat right. Just checked this.
Vidal played a week before the WC started In some random friendly match. It was about 15mins and it was month after his surgery. Suarez played vs England and that was also a month after his surgery. However both had meniscus injuries. Seems Vidals was worst though and I do recall an article in the Vidal thread saying the surgeon didn't think Vidal was ready to play or something along those lines.

Any quotes or links for that? From what I have heard, LvG decided to implement 3-5-2 once he came here and had training sessions with players. But maybe you are right. Maybe we extended Valencia's contract because of his utility and ability to play RWB and RW in case we change the system.

I am on my phone right now but i think Giggs talked about the Blueprint being made by LVG and his staff in the reunited presser and then once after that. Remember LVG mentioning it in one of his pressers or interviews too that they had to implement 3-5-2 early and how plans were made for his staff etc..

Will post it later if i find them again.

Nothing happening today. Ed must be busy finishing up all that work behind the scenes he mentioned over a month ago...
