I mean, those 'promises' are interesting but players can make up those kind of stories too.

Its so obvious Benatia is available to the first bidder that crosses €35M... is he not worth that to us?
What was Vidic or Rio worth at their peak?
 
One thing is for sure though, he is looking to leave and if a club bids 35 million euros for him, I guess he is theirs.

Benatia was linked with City for ages, he was their alternative to Mangala it seems.

He knew they could offer him huge money and were interested so he put it out there.

Perhaps LVG thinks a defence consisting of Smalling, Jones, Rojo, Evans and Blackett is good enough? There are 3 injury prone defenders and one inexperienced defender. There have also been recent reports of us being in for another defender other than Rojo but who knows what is going on in LVG's mind?

They have already got a terrific attacking left back in Filipe Luis and an arguably top goalkeeper in Courtouis as well. However, I am sure Mourinho would be sacked if he doesn't win the EPL or the Champions League. So no pressure there Jose....
 
We still won the league and reached the Cl final next year no?

Infact upto last season we were more successful than madrid since Ronaldo went there Iirc.
