Looks like a legit Journo i think; 697 followers begs to differ. Maybe he was just late joining the party...

Oh ok, Barcelona are planning to offer him a new contract, I thought he agreed.

feck this, we're not going to sign this fella.

Course we aren't going to sign him. It was sadly inevitable when feck all happened this week and last that it was just a repeat of the Sneijder saga. Thankfully I moved on a couple of days ago, so I won't be as pissed off as some will be when it's announced he is staying.

A new contract wont give you anymore playing time, Thiago my boy! Resist the pretty words from the ones in blue and red, come join the team that has a mascot by the name of Fred!

No way this deal's happening now, get ready for disappointment.

But what difference does more money mean?? Assuming this kid is telling the truth and wants playing time as his primary motivation for wanting to leave then an improved contract with no further guarantees of playing time is hardly going to sway him.

If tito offered him more playing time in a new deal then he would have signed and be done weeks ago. Clearly that is not the case.

Either that or this is just the ramblings of a bitter, desperate 'still at work at 10 on a friday night' child.

Mundo Deportivo seem about as reliable as Cider. Every day there story changes.

We're still offering him more than Barca's new offer, right? I doubt he's driven solely by money but even without taking the finances into account, he's still not been given guarantees about playing time. Why would he stay for less money and less football?

This guy is full of shit:

TXIKI FORERO@TXIKIFORERO 21 Jun
Dos apuntes si Thiago se decanta por Man Utd no será por minutos, sino por dinero. Abidal se decanta por Monaco en lugar de OL por lo mismo

He is saying that if Thiago chooses to go to Man UTD that it will not be because of minutes, but because of money.

This guy is trying to paint Thiago as greedy and making him out to be the bag guy in this. Pay no attention to this idiot.

Find by a newbie.

The journo seems like a Barcelona fan.

I'm still optimistic. Don't really know why. Thursday and Friday last week, reputable sources seemed to be suggesting it was concrete. I don't believe anything has changed. The lad is on holiday, so I don't believe there is anything to report. MD have reported every possible outcome it seems.

Gotta have the faith, as George Michael would say.

Which would make it gloriously ironic if his latest tweet, suggesting Barca's improved contract offer has persuaded him to stay, proved to be true.

Have to say, this has gone ominously quiet. For good reason with him on holiday and Moyes not yet in position but that didn't stop the insanity that took hold a week ago.

I think he's already been told he'll get more playing time and this whole saga's been concocted by his agent and Barca just to makes us look like fools. Hold on, my tin-foil hat's too tight.

Mundo Deportivo seem about as reliable as The Sun, this is a paper that is also reporting Ramos to Barca.
Just chill out, things will probably move on next week, he's still on holiday atm anyway.

I've always had a sneaky suspicion that he'd stay at Barca. Except when I had sneaky suspicion that he'd join us.

Just give the fecker that release clause. There is no way we wouldn't play him.

Sensible by them; most likely not ok for us. Not to say he won't get the minutes but the mere fact such a clause exists is bad for business. Next contract negotiation for Rooney "Only play upfront otherwise my RC gets activated" etc.

Easy way around it though; accept the clause with buyout changed to £25-30m BUT if for two consecutive seasons he plays more than 75% of our minutes then the clause gets removed. If he has played in more than 75% of minutes then he is obviously a regular so he and ourselves won't have an issue.

If he works out (why wouldn't he) and plays those minutes, no clause. If it doesn't work out then we still sell him, at a reasonable price for someone else, and not at a loss.

It's difficult though. What if all players start to include these types of clauses in their contracts? Everyone wants to play, yet hardly anyone puts it in their contract that they have to play or else the club will suffer.

How do these clauses account for injuries? Who/What determines that the player is injured?

I read teveth's contract guaranteed that he'd start 80% of games he'll be available for.

Also read that Barcelona will dispute Thiago's clause because he was injured

Wut? I thought personal terms were already agreed? Hunter is slowly creeping into the bulshitters list.

Hang on, someone reported that Barcelona will not offer a new contract a couple of days ago. Who was that?

Wut? I thought personal terms were already agreed? Hunter is slowly creeping into the bulshitters list.

Slowly? It's been obvious that he's bullshitting for a week now, reporting every possible development under the sun regardless of how they contradict one another.

If this clause was on the table, it puts us in a difficult situation. In this specific instance, it means virtually nothing, since he will almost certainly be playing the vast majority of matches. But it's a dangerous line to cross, and United in particular do not like setting these sorts of precedents.

Actually Hunter is very close to Barca, and supposedly close to Thiago's Dad. He's probably the most reliable source on this transfer.

So Hunter keeps telling us. But the scattershot nature of his tweets suggest that, whatever his relationship with the Alcantaras, they're not actually calling him every evening to keep him up to date.

I want Hunter to be reliable but I can't help but feel like he has a vague knowledge at best. Feels like he just drip feeds information which likely has slight substance but elaborates massively just to keep the vultures circling around his account. There's always a way out for these journos and ITKs if the signing doesn't go through, they can just state that someone changed their mind or that "transfers can always fall through."
