What can you guys tell me about Strootman? I see him hyped up alot on here so I am genuinely interested as to what he would offer us and why many have him near the top of their wish list. I personally know feck all about him.

Nor me, but I can tell you now that he's either "not United quality" or he's "the final piece of the puzzle we've all been waiting for".

Thiago is more of a want, Strootman is more of a need

IMO of course

I think we need both.

Strootman looks to be a more defensive minded midfielder which would provide cover for Carrick whilst Thiago would be a more creative spark and would mean we see less of Giggs in CM.

Although it's twitter talk, if we can get both for around £40 million, that would be tremendous value and massively improve our midfield issues.

Well, for about the same amount of money, i rather have Strootman than Thiago

What? Really, this youtube hype (not you exactly) is mindblowing. It's hard to compare, but Thiago is far ahead (will not even gonna discuss talent wise) so far, imo. Whenever I've seen him he always did great, especially for a young player. I've seen Strootman six or seven times, and he didn't do bad, but didn't really stand out in one occasion.

Strootman didn't strike me as a defensive midfielder. Can pick a pass, and cover a lot of ground, but not a "destroyer". Good all around, but not particularly good in anything.

But I do agree, if we get both for this price, it's great business.

I think they'd complement each other pretty well in a midfield pairing once Carrick starts to decline, if we do manage to get them both of course. Strootman is an all around midfielder from what I've seen of him (not much admittedly), would be the more defensive of the two and Thiago the more offensive, but by no means is a pure attacking midfielder. He still does his fair share of defensive work and gets stuck in. Would be delighted if we got both of them.

Strootman, never has a player who so few have seen play been so talked about!

Probably better than Fellaini though, whose main benefit would be beating up the likes of Stoke and West Ham

I've never seen Strootman, but Caftards who have watched him don't seem particularly impressed; and I've sufficient respect for the Cafe's football nous to find that a cause for concern. :(

(provided we're actually in for him, of course)

Barcelona, by the way, have apparently started selling Neymar shirts with the #11... Make of that what you will.

Could also be that Thiago may take a different shirt number.

Aye, he could be wanting that number 7 off Villa's back.

Thiago could easily wear #7 when David Villa inevitably leaves. That is interesting though, perhaps it was something Neymar insisted on when negotiating.

Apparently we've triggered Thiago's release clause today. His agent claims no decision will be made til after u21s.

Right well lets hope they get knocked out in the group stages then  I don't think I could wait to see if this is true or not if we have to wait until the 18th of June (the final).

Well two very exciting pieces of news has surfaced as soon as I said we should stop the chit-chat in this thread

May I ask Tyy Dyyy, where did you find this piece of information? Who said this?

"@lnside_News: BREAKING NEWS: Man Utd trigger Thiago Alcantara's release clause of €18M. But, there is more to the story. Read here https://t.co/timyW7EoVb"

Edit: Yeah Damo was right (as per) I've seen quite a few people on twitter running with it.

Transfer Updates @lnside_News
Napoli are in talks with Manchester United over a transfer of Antonio Valencia, #MUFC want £15M, Napoli only want to pay £10M. #Negotiation

Gareth Bale is keen on a move to Manchester United. [Via his agent] But, remember more money from Real Madrid might change his mind soon.

This fella knows his onions.

What is it with the bullshit sources and people believing them lately? Have we all gotten more gullible in the past year?

I blame RvP for this. You now seem to believe we can sign anyone.

Have we lost all judgement on reputable sources? FootballDave is more reputable than this stuff

Google Docs (from the newbies):

Google docs changes everything.

In other news, somebody posted transfer tweets from agentyoloswag in newbs yesterday.

Are you guys for real? No sources, not even one is reliable or reputable. Everyone from BBC and SkySports to Jimmy Joe in the know, circulate rumours and bullshit everyday.

The game is believing the ones that sound best.

It's desperation, we just want a midfielder already

10000th post. What do I win?:smirk:

It's cause their midfielders. Who was the last first team midfielder we were close to signing? I can't remember anyone since 2007.
