Turns out we're a bit crap, anyone?

One or two teams above us may have a losing streak. All four of them? Impossible.
Not that I think they will but could happen. In the midweek fixtures City, Arsenal and Spurs lost with Leicester also dropping points. Problem is I don't think we're good enough/capable to capatalise anyway.

If we can keep this run going then we stand a chance, i look at today and 2 of the top four dropped points, a win tomorrow puts us 2 behind Arsenal. Going to Spurs, going to City and playing Leicester at home are 12 massive points to play for and we can really ask some searching questions of the teams above.

5 Wins 5 Draws.

We'll hit the 67 point mark.
I didn't really calculate the points until now, so 6 wins and 4 draws in the remaining 10 games (a stretch we've never had) won't even get us to 70 points? And people here are seriously talking about being in the title race?

That's a reasonable prediction by the way (may be a little bit optimistic).

Well yeah considering the points that the other teams are on...

I think going unbeaten for 10 league games (something we have not done since LVG took over), is improbable.
Bear in mind that our current unbeaten run stretches back 2 games...thats all.
We have never looked like title challengers. Even when we were in first place, we were scoring roughly 1 goal per game, but winning games by lucky goals, extraordinary goals, own goals or because of DDG.

And 67 points is certainly not a title winning points total.
LCFC already have 60 points with 9 games to play.

Optimistic prediction: 4th place.
Realistic prediction: 5th place.
If Rooney returns: 6th place.

We've been dreadful most of the season and now if we want to be in the running for cl spots we need to be impeccable in terms of results. I don't think we have the quality unfortunately.

We will be 10 points behind Leicester and 5 behind Spurs IF we beat West Brom today which is not a given. 10 points is a gap that can be made up in at least 4 games and that's only if 3 of these games end with opposition defeats. So basically there will have to be 4 rounds of games in which we will do better than Leicester and we cannot do worse than them in any matchday because that's increase it to 5 or 6.

It's nuts to think we have a shot at title. With 27 points to play for 10 points is a huge, huge gap. The only reason why there is this talk is that top of the league are Leicester who very few rate and people expect them to lose every game between now and the end of world somehow. If it were Caf darlings City by 6 points with their amazingly wonderful team then nobody would believe in title win.

This time last season Leicester were actually bottom! Unbelievable, and were about 7 points off safety with 9 games left!

This time last week, I wasn't feeling too confident about driving up to the Arsenal game!
Funny old thing, and anything can happen to some extent. I've spent time tonight arguing with super optimists that madly think we can still win the league, but we can definitely hit top 4, but we'll have to play pretty well. Points off Arsenal/City not the highest, but that can easily change against us very quickly if we're not bang on it.
Its an amazing story. Hopefully they can pull it off.

As for top 4 , it'll be hard especially with away games to City and Spurs still to come, and Leicester who may be playing to seal the title then.

Imo 73 points will win the title, the 4th place team will get 68 points, it's going to be that tight. If you're in the race for 4th you're in the race for 1st 2nd 3rd 4th & 5th.
Obviously for United to be in that race we have to win a lot of games
The two absolute crucial games we must win are today against WBA and Spurs. If we don't win both of these we are not only out of the title race but out of the race for 4th.
We also have to win all our home games. We have to pick up 4 or 5 points from the other 3 games.
Extremely difficult but not impossible.
However, if we don't win today it will be over

Have a feeling 5 teams will be in contention for the title last GW

This thread

So people are expecting us to gain 14 points on Leicester from now on AND count on all the other teams above us collapsing as well. All that based on our winning "streak" of two games, completely ignoring the fact that Leicester have played much better and more consistent than us this season. I guess it's better than the usual doom and gloom but one draw and we'll be back to that anyway.

No chance whatsoever! When does that ever happen?

Let alone when 1st to 5th is such a big gap with 9games left!

Every time we win 2 games in a row threads like this go up and we end up on a miserable run of form. Will you people never learn?

Nothing to do with the thread though, we are terrible. Wont get into the top 4, nevermind the title.

Well it's been so doom and gloom all season so i thought that I would attempt to lighten the mood.

The way i see it, we are 10 points behind Leicester having gained 2 points on them with these midweek fixtures, with Spurs, Arsenal and City losing tonight we pulled back 3 points on all of these teams having beaten Arsenal on sunday.

This weekend is the north London derby meaning that at least one of Spurs or Arsenal will drop points giving us another chance to close the gap. on top of this we have players returning from injury, have won 4 on the spin in all competitions and still have to play City, Spurs and Leicester.

10 Points doesn't seem that bad anymore.

100% close thread. and a little slap for everyone who actually believed it after 2 wins in a row!

Well I have been saying for months that Mata is the most brain dead footballer in the league.

What? He's surely one of the more intelligent out there!

There's some thick as sh!t centre backs who've headed far too many balls
