Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

Doesn't Twitter constitute official record in the same way any public statement of the President of the United States does?

Yep, they even archived all of Barack Obama's twitter as a presidential record.

From the newbs with something to share for you all.

EDIT did you read the whole thread L? They have quite a bit there but I think they need more than the Logan Charges and Flynn's Testimony and hopefully they have it.

Such a fecking weird country where you can have their premier law enforcement agency investigating a hugely politically sensitive series of crimes, yet both houses of congress are also running their own investigations despite political bias and despite them risking interfering with the special council/FBI. :wenger:

“Everyone is paranoid,” said a person close to Trump’s White House. “Everyone thinks they’re being recorded.”

Mueller is doing little to abate those suspicions. Tucked inside last week’s 10-page plea deal Flynn struck with government prosecutors is an agreement that the former White House national security adviser could avoid a potential lengthy jail term in part by “participating in covert law enforcement activities.”

Wiring up cooperating witnesses is a routine law enforcement tactic used hundreds — if not thousands — of times a year in criminal cases and on occasion for more complex white-collar investigations. It’s done to obtain a record of other conspirators and witnesses talking about their conduct, which can be used as confirmation when pressing for indictments and as first-hand evidence to be introduced during trial. Mueller, a former FBI director, and the team of veteran Justice Department prosecutors he’s surrounded himself with are schooled in the benefits of the wiring technique.

Mueller channeling his Lester Freamon.

Does he even have a clue what's happening!?
Surely he knows that the lying to the FBI charge is a reduced charge as part of a plea bargain? Yes he's been charged with lying to the FBI but that is the least of his crimes. That's how plea bargains work. Especially when you are cooperating with the Special Prosecutor.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R., Calif.), chair of the House Intelligence Committee, has threatened to hold top Department of Justice and FBI officials in contempt of Congress for failing to provide lawmakers with key information relating to the probe into possible collusion between the Trump administration and Russia.

The threat follows new revelations that Peter Strzok, a top FBI official assigned to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe, had been removed from the case after evidence was presented showing he exchanged anti-Trump and pro-Hillary Clinton text messages with colleagues.

Nunes said in a statement following the disclosure that both the DOJ and FBI have withheld key information from Congress, despite several subpoenas.

"I have instructed House Intelligence Committee staff to begin drawing up a contempt of Congress resolution for DOJ Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray," Nunes threatened in his statement.

"Unless all our outstanding demands are fully met by close of business on Monday, December 4, 2017, the committee will have the opportunity to move this resolution before the end of the month," the lawmaker said.

My main man Devin Nunes.

Clear as day the FBI are deliberately stonewalling them because Nunes is now a person of interest. He was in the Trump Admin transition team and he had dinner with Michael Flynn and the Turkish Foreign minister.

Oh yeah and.... he's supposed to be recused from the investigation so he really should be explaining why he's threatening the FBI for not complying with his subpoenas.

I'm amazed the GOP haven't smacked him down yet like they did with Rohrabacher. He's making them look even more ridiculous than normal.

This is what I mean, you don't even need to be particularly clued up to understand that lying to the FBI isn't *only* what's happening to Flynn.

At this point, I'm inclined to believe that his staffers are deliberately keeping him ignorant of a lot of things that are happening around him.

It's part of a concerted effort by the GOP to paint the whole thing as a trivial witchhunt by the special council and the Democrats. They know perfectly well its a plea deal, but by focusing solely on the lying charge they can convince their base that its a nothing burger, and angle the anger onto Clinton who they keep assuring their fans 'lied to the FBI too, and much worse!!'.

It's not exactly sophisticated, but these days they don't need to be. They found out years ago that if you repeat the same lie often and loudly enough, enough people will believe it.

Then when they inevitably try and either defund Mueller or even get rid of him, their supporters will back them to the hilt.

Looking more and more like they have a fairly air tight obstruction of justice case.
Agreed, the fact that the Trump council is basically saying "Yeh he tried to stop the investigation, but he's the king of America so feck y'all" is their strategy going forward speaks volumes

This is so bad for them.

Trump was aware Flynn misled the FBI and he still hesitated in firing him.

Trump knew Flynn was in legal jeopardy when he asked Comey to end the Flynn investigation.

It seems like they're trying their best to get him impeached. Why would you leak this kind of information?

As they know this information was going to come out one way or another, so its better for the WH to leak this themselves so they plan ahead on a strategy.

Its probably why he made this tweet a few days ago

It's going to be like the FIFA corruption report isn't it

Mueller hands 300,000 page report into the crimes of Trump and his administrations and has hundreds of indictments filed against Trump and his inner circle....

McConnell: "We thank Mr Mueller for his time and effort and we're pleased to say that after reviewing the report this afternoon, we've decided the best course of action is to destroy all copies of it to protect the good names of the American citizens held within and move on with a revitalised President Trump at the helm and the full support of the Republican party to fulfil his agenda. We consider this matter closed."

Well since we already have Comey's sworn testimony that he *was* asked by Trump to drop the Flynn investigation, shouldn't be too difficult for Donald to do the same. Oh lordy I hope there are tapes.

I hope they charge the cnut on Xmas day. Mueller can come dressed as Santa.
