Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

So stuff they've found out isn't true and has been planted there to throw them off?
I read it that the Special Counsel office sent some of the non-sensitive evidence to Concord in Russia for their review as part of the discovery process. Some of that material was then altered and re-disseminated to the public by so-called hackers as part of continuing efforts to discredit the SC/investigation itself. So in response, the Special Counsel is moving that Concord need to come see the sensitive material on-site in the US and that it will not be sent directly to them in Russia.

Who is he referring to in the second tweet?

Jr maybe? Seems like he'd be the obvious next big name after Stone and the other leaks today continue on the GOP's latest tactic of trying to insulate Trump himself from the conspiracy. Lay all blame for the Trump Tower meeting at Jr's door, and then say he was just an inexperienced kid () who got taken advantage of by Russia. Ridiculous of course but would be part for their course.

Another day, another grifter makes his way into this thread. Trump is poison to people's Brains. I don't know if some of the far fetched theories in this thread are meant to be sarcastic but I do hope so.

Pretty good take on the Russia-election interference from the Newyorker

By the metrics of a Mafia state, though, the Trump Presidency has yielded great results for Russia. A Mafia boss craves respect, loyalty, and perceived power. Trump’s deference to Putin and the widespread public perception of Putin’s influence over Trump have lifted Putin’s stature beyond what I suspect could have been his wildest dreams. As happens in a Mafia state, most of the benefit accrues to the patron personally. But some of the profit goes to the clan. Over the weekend, we learned that the Treasury Department has lifted sanctions on companies that belong to Oleg Deripaska, a member of Putin’s “court” who once lent millions of dollars to Manafort. If a ragtag team employed by or otherwise connected to the Russian Mafia state tried to aid a similar collection of crooks and frauds to elect Trump—as it increasingly looks like they did—then the Deripaska news helps explain their motivations. The story is not that Putin is masterminding a vast and brilliant attack on Western democracy. The story, it appears, is that the Russian Mafia state is cultivating profit-yielding relationships with the aspiring Mafia boss of the US. and his band of crooks, subverting democratic institutions in the process.

Which theories in particular are you referring to?

Was this part of the pay off for Putin?

This is the confusion. I wouldn't put it past Trump to do things like this (as he so often has done) when the pressure is mounting and when evidence is coming out supporting his ties to Russia.

Of course that's speculation and conspiracy theory territory, but it's clear that either Trump is compromised and working for Russia, or he's a fecking moron and just randomly making knee jerk decisions to distract attention and/or to gain favour from his base.

Either way he's unfit to lead and is a clear and present danger to the world.

Honestly, I'm torn between him just being a power hungry dithering idiot and a complete moron who is being leaned on by Russia.

Russia got to make as much use of him while they have the chance, the clock is ticking.

It's like the start of that Austin Powers film, when he realises that Felicity's death means he's free & single again.

Russia follows US in suspending nuclear deal
Looks like a pact. No wonder Trump doesn't want anyone knowing about the details of his private talks with Putin.

Looks like Schiff is planning on sharing info with Mueller that Nunes previously wouldn't share.

I guess he’s protected from obstruction charges on some political level?

What information could the House have that Mueller wouldn't have access to? That feels odd?

If it comes out that Devin f*cking Nunes was just sitting on a pile of crucial information he should be put in jail.

Interviews with key actors like Jr and Kushner.

Mueller can likely confirm they systematically perjured and did so in cahoots with each other which will not only serve as leverage against them but also act as evidence of the wider conspiracy that is at play here. It will also blow apart their pleas of ignorance due to inexperience in politics.

It could be as simple as giving Mueller testimony from various people that he could then use to cross reference things they told him. Alternatively, it could be far more that Nunes blocked from getting to Mueller.

I recall Maddow mentioning recently that for Mueller to bring an indictment against someone for lying to Congress they need to have the official transcript released to them by the relevant committee. It's likely he already has an unofficial transcript but can't use that to file the indictment. Would indicate that more indictments are imminent I would imagine.

Interesting, I had assumed that the house committee would have to share with the DoJ...clearly not!
