Tapes, what are tapes really?

Anyone could make a tape, that guy Mike, Mike whatshisname..Judge, he used to do that fun with real audio thing on SNL. If there are any tapes, they're probably faked that way.

I mean, the tapes are fake.

She’s in Russia now, not hard to believe that she’s probably had her passport confiscated and the rules of the game explained. She no longer poses a risk to Russia and it has all the appearance of a nothing burger.
 
They got her to apologize to Deripsoka for "defaming" him, which is about all they could get out of her since they know the world is watching how they treat her.

Personally think it's by design.

He comes out, muddies the water, gets the left riled up and laughing at him then when whatever he's denied but then admitted too drops he gets to say he never said anything and confuses everyone and the impact of whatever it was is completely lost because we're talking about Giuliani being an idiot instead.

They'll do the same when the Mueller report finally drops and people will fall for it.

That just doesnt ring true for me. Its a neat theory but is anyone actually confused? About anything other than Giuliani's mental state, I mean? Distract, yes - and thereby maybe buy some time - but confuse, not so much.

And even on the distraction front, I dont see what saying "I worry itll say on my gravestone: Giuliani, he lied for Trump" achieves. That doesnt distract or confuse, it just hands the other side ammunition.

That said, Id be more confident shooting down your theory if I could come up with a better one, and I cant. Maybe there are so many lies out there now they cant keep track of what their story actually is. Though again, that doesnt really explain why you would admit you lied for Trump.

I'm with you. I can't think of a better theory of why this is happening.

I know they're both phenomenally stupid and incompetent but I sit there and I'm just like 'come the feck on, this has to be a plan' cause it does work. People talk and laugh about it all and it lessens the seriousness of it and that makes it easier for them to get away with it and let's face it, we've sat here a million times before thinking the next ridiculous story is 'IT' and Trump is finally done and then they do this shit and they get away with it and he's still President.

Rudy is so transparently bad that either he's been planted by the people trying to bring down Trump and he's revealing everything for us or he's an idiot on a hitherto unforeseen scale (as is Trump) and they've convinced themselves of a plan to just be as utterly moronic as possible that people can't possibly believe anything anymore. We're definitely at the stage where nothing is real and we have no clue what's going on so it's working for them.
 
In true & fitting tv-mobster style, Giuliani and many Reps have possibly been offered points in Trump hotels/Moscow projects, so they're willing to make public fools of themselves.

He was alway a bit flamboyant and out of the norm for a prosecutor, which is why his approach completely shook the mob. They weren't used to being called out on TV and treated like petty criminals everyday, so their fear factor in the general public took a big hit and never recovered. Of course flamboyance can go very wrong when combined with senility and you can't treat a public servant like Mueller like you treat mob bosses.

I know a lack of consequences for bad behaviour has been the theme of Trump's political career generally but does threatening the family of a witness really not carry any either?

Kevin Spacey must be so pissed. First Trump outdoes him on the sexual harassment front, now he outdoes him on the threatening people. Only good thing is that Trump s probably never been near public transit so we won't have to worry about anyone being pushed in front of a DC subway train.

It’s not about hiding, it’s about having a federal security detail. No way a Trump associate would try anything in that situation. It would be too easily traced if it was foiled.
