True Blood - Season 3 (T.V. show only)

Yeah, wasn't a patch on Season 2 and not really as good as Season 1 either.

To be honest it was just a bit all over the place at times and didn't seem to know where it was going, it didn't seem to have the same fluidity of the first 2 seasons, and continuous plotlines. Random things just seemed to happen out of nowhere really.

The king saved it though, he really was a fantastic character, but the stuff with Jason, layfette/Jesus, Arlene and Sam was all a bit meh.

Good ending to the show with Sookie, don't really give 2 shits about Bill, no real ending with Eric, and meh, don't care less if Sam does or doesn't shoot his brother.

Oh, and the werewolves were rubbish.

Overall a tad disappointing, I expected big things.
The king for me only saved it after his lover was killed, before that he was equally as annoying. It's obvious witch craft and magic will be the main tale next year but it just feels like all the random plots are just fillers til the next McGuffin. Bill and Eric were equally as tedious. Really couldn't give a shit about Sookie. Tara had the best story line, albeit a short one with the psycho vampire.

Found it a bit disappointing and a bit predictable. The only bit I was really surprised was when:

Bill acted like a total dick and tricked Eric, shoving him in the cement. Now I don't buy into the "Team Eric, Team Bill" BS which seems to have taken over the show - probably a defect of Twilight, but Bill really is a dick. I also couldn't believe Eric didn't kill Bill later on, even if he hurt him elsewhere

Anyway that's my 2 cents. The series overall wasn't as good season 2.

I think I heard something about a minisode to compliment the finale. I don't know if that precedes it, or succeeds it. If it succeeds it, a few loose ends could be tied up in that. Overall, it was a dull finale. But I expected that. They usually finish the main story-line in the first 15 minutes, then Tara bitches and moans to Cookie, and then they lay the ground work for the next season.

And another thing

Are we to just assume that Eric had no problem getting out of the cement, with no explanation? I presume it's because he was fine where as the king was still 'sunburnt'

Pam pulled him out I think. It was hinted that when she came out of the shower complaining she still had cement in her hair. Drawing from assumption that when Pam was attacked from Reuben, she figured out that Eric was in trouble and digged him out before the cement became solid.

Ah yes, should've copped that.

I think Russell was better before Talbot died. I hate Tara and her storylines always bore me. While Bill was never a great actor, he really has gotten rubbish as the series has gone on.

Yes, it did peak too early and was shit hot in the middle of the series only to end a bit lukewarm.

It was a disappointing last episode, but I'm very much looking forward to next season.

Just finished the Season finale. I agree with most of what has been said about the season peaking a bit too early and the bit about the storyline being all over the place. I suppose everyone just expected something fecking epic by the last episode and it wasn't quite satisfactory enough as finales went in previous seasons.

But same ol', same ol'. True Blood is still one of the best shows on TV right now. Can't get enough of it. Tara is still a boring, annoying, overacted bitch that really needs to be killed off. Although, I hate Russell, I have to concede the fact that his character was essential to everything good this season. What drew me in most this season were vampire politics. Flannigan, Russell's dramatic show on national television, the anti-fanger sentiment echoing across the country. It really adds another dimension to the show and makes it more interesting (for me at least.)
