Tuanzebe out on loan would piss me off, means fecking Darmian covering Valencia all season.

I agree.

Do you agree this has come out of the blue? Have you been really linked with him this year? The way I'm seeing this, you've missed out on a couple of key targets this year (Lukaku and now seemingly Llorente) and losing Matic has an air of mystery around it. It doesn't really seem that Conte is happy with that.

So with that in mind, spending £40m+ on a player you haven't been linked with at the last minute is a bit of panic, imo.

Have you been linked with many wingers at all? I wasn't aware that was a position you were looking to spend on.

For what it's worth, I would've loved him here and I think he improves you guys.

There's been occasional rumours, but I generally assume that all the top clubs are at least keeping an eye on most of the top players who may be open to moves, and that pretty much all of us will be linked with every vaguely plausible Tom, Dick and Harry at some point in the window.

From what I've heard about how clubs do business, they conduct long term scouting and analysis of a long list of players, and have preference lists so if they can't get their top choices they have backups they can move on to. I think it's safe to assume Mahrez wasn't a 1st choice, but then again this stuff is always going to be complicated by players and their agents changing their minds and requesting late moves or whatever.

I certainly wouldn't consider a good player who would have seemed a totally logical buy at any point to be a 'panic buy'. I'd reserve that for things like the Djilibodji transfer a few years back where it genuinely did seem like we'd gone 'OMFG we can't get Stone and need basically anyone!!'.

I don't know who I want to see feck up more.

Arsenal cashing in on Sanchez and not getting a replacement. City not signing Sanchez or Evans. Or Liverpool missing out on Lemar and being made to wait for VVD.

What a conundrum.

Big laughs all round I'd say.

Maybe quiet for us, but what an exciting deadline day it is. Agents must be raking in the cash. Feel sorry for fax machines all round.

One bad season under a different style of play means a player is garbage. He only player 10 games for Stoke, he'll get more game time at Swansea.

He scored a lot of goals for Swansea leading to his move to City, if they get the service to him, he'll score plenty of goals for them.

Agree, he scored heavily in dutch football and was brilliant for swans 1st time around. Realistically he was never going to cut it at a top 4 club, but if he can pick up a bit of form he'll be a great signing

Name a striker that scores regularly for Stoke. There isn't one. 10 appearances (including sub apps) 0 goals for a Stoke striker is about the norm, look at berahino

So glad we got our business done early, and that it seems to have been good business. As exciting as previously deadline days have been for us, Falcao being a highlight, they have often not turned out that well in terms of good business. Hope fans get what they want, unless they are Spurs fans. Or Arsenal.... or Chelsea(lol). Actually Liverpool either, oh and City, hope they go out of business in fact.

The only shit part is City potentially getting Sanchez for free next year.
It is, but at the same time I'd rather they get him for free next year than right now. Currently Chelsea and United both have a very good chance at the title, if Sanchez joins City then I can't see anyone but them winning it.

At least them getting him in a year gives other teams a chance to upgrade at the same pace.

Agreed.

If Sanchez goes for free next Summer Arsenal can't control his destination or rule out dealing with Jose - so we would stand a good chance of getting him if we wanted.

That's totally fair.
