Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Us selling Ronaldo at that price pushed up transfer fees for other players. Clubs looked at what United got for Ronaldo and started asking for higher fees for less talented players. We as a club had the right to ask for that price for a player who we considered to be a huge talent, Real Madrid felt that he was worth what they were willing to pay. See, both clubs were responsible for driving up the transfer fees, not just 1 club. It's very simple to understand if you think rationally.

Maybe the people running the club didn't expect anyone to pay that much for him and had to sell him when Real Madrid met that price just like how Barcelona didn't expect anyone to meet Neymar's release clause, but no one is saying Barcelona are responsible for inflating the market, people are blaming only PSG for inflating the market.

Let's see if we have anyone they actually want first. Pogba has to improve a lot for them to want him. He hasn't got back to the Juve form yet.

They wouldn't be able to afford Pogba. They're only offering ridiculous amounts of money because they have the Neymar money and are desperate to sign a replacement before the start of the season.

It's common knowledge that their financial situation is far from ideal.

That's true. Unlike Real I am not sure who they could sell in the future to generate money. Real have a number of players who could be sold if they fancied a new toy. Barca don't have another Neymar to flog, Real could make good money out of a Bale.

Yeah, Real Madrid are in a much better long-term position all things considered. Even in terms of talent in their squad.

They wont have another 200mil to spend unless they sell Messi.
I wouldn't want to be risking that sale. Yes you might get a ton of money, but my god what he brings is almost impossible to replace. Not sure they would want to become just another club.

@TheReligion

Think its obvious now pool are just playing the game and are trying to fork out less money in loyalty bonuses while getting a fee from Barca. Even they are not that stupid to think they can keep a player who is unhappy without a negative effect.

Yeah I think FSG needed him to put the request in so they can sell him and save face given they have had a weak window so far.

I'm very curious to see how this effects Klopp though..

Dembele wants Barcelona but Madrid have offered more cash plus a player in their offer for Dembele.

Madrid driving up the price for Dembele or BVB using Madrid's name to drive up the price. Either way, they want them to pay up.

Marca said he cried when he was forced to join United instead.

I know
Wasn't that ballbag? Marca was quite dismissive of both the money involved and the player himself

Just sign Jose his left winger or left back.

I want United to show its financial strength here. If not now then when?

Sigh! I don't know how else to explain it to you. It does not take a lot of intelligence to understand it if you read my previous post. I will try another way, how much did we pay for Pogba again!

75 million on Lukaku, 40 million on Matic, 30 million on Lindelof, thats not bad 145 million on three players...one was from under the nose of the current champions (billionaire backed) and another was right from their first team, Conte didnt want him to leave...I cant remember us being more financially strong lately.

You forgot the third possibility, the Barcelona board trying to justify the high fee for Dembouz by implying RM drove the price up

I think he is arrogant and deluded enough to be ok with it. Having come out so many times and strongly claiming that he definitely won't be sold and is not for sale would be enough to embarrass most managers and force them to resign out of principle. But I guess you have to have principles in the first

I was talking only about the Ronaldo transfer because you said we inflated the market at that time too, we didn't force them to pay that amount. Ronaldo wanted to go to Real and they wanted him and were willing to pay whatever we asked. You are calling me dumb for no reason. Answer me this, why are people blaming PSG and not blaming Barcelona for inflating the market because of Neymar's release clause?

I will try one last time. Say you have a craving for something, but you want the best. You go to the place where you want to buy it from, but find out that the price has been raised by a lot. At this stage you either walk away, or you want it bad enough that you cannot walk away because you will not find it anywhere else. So you end up paying and taking home that expensive thing you just bought. Now this is when the problem starts, the store owners next to the shop you went to saw' or heard the price that you paid for that item and want into that action. They don't have the exact same quality of the item that you purchased, but they think that they can increase the price of their product and see if anyone bites.

Next time someone who has a similar craving as you goes to the stores to purchase that product, he cannot find the same thing, but something similar is being sold in the store next to it, but when he pops into that store, he finds that the store owner is asking for a lot more than what he was selling for a month ago. He is in the same dilemma as you, either walk away, or end up paying the asking price. Now, he has the same craving as you, and has the money to pay for it, so he ends up paying the asking price and taking it home.

So.......who is responsible for that price increase? The buyer because he paid what was being asked? The seller because he increased his price because he think that's what it is worth? Or both because they helped increase the price of that product for everyone else?

I wouldn't even dare to put in a bid for PSG's first choice RB, they would turn the table on us and bid £250m for Pogba with 900k\week wages.
