You signed Matic for £35m (plus £5m add-ons) ... isn't dismissing him as "nothing" is a bit harsh?
I think you missed my point (people were slating Matic saying we should buy world class youngster for 35m instead of Matic)

Just regarding the fee, seems to be £35m up front with a further £5m in potential addons. About as good a deal as you could get for any 1st XI Chelsea player imo

Yeah, every bit of news that comes in it sounds more reasonable.3 years plus 1 is verh sensible as well for a 29 year old.

Very harsh considering he's won two league titles which equals what the runners up from last season have achieved in their entire history.

Im not saying Keane is a bad buy, just that people complaining about buying Matic for 35m because we should be getting world class talent for 35m, not a past it has been Chelsea reject. Just pointing out that 35m doesnt buy you much, as good as Keane is, he is hardly a world class talent

Matic is a past it has been Chelsea reject?

Keane and Pickford were both 30m too.

200m is obviously a decent bit of coin by anyone's reckoning, but if Barca are looking at shelling 100m odd on Coutinho and 60/70m on Dembele, wouldn't they be better off just keeping Neymar?
Coutinho and Dembele for Neymar is a cracking deal.

Barca ends up stronger with coutinho and Dembele imo.

Difference is Neymar wants to leave

Having Messi and Suarez in a 4-3-3, they can't play both though, can they? So it would be one starting, another on the bench, Dembele starting more often imho.

If Neymar goes they will be far more persistant and public about aquiring him and the fact is Barca will have a need and if he doesn't fill it this season they will fill it with another and he will not be wanted next year by them. They have already lined up Veratti for Iniesta next season, on the cheap too... Wonder could they up the stakes on Mbappe.

I'd say they have his team well informed of this too. SO it all hinges on Neymar.
Where did you get that?

They are not getting Veratti. PSG will simply refuse to do business with them like they have done all along.

Barca could utilize Coutinho in midfield, maybe with Iniesta or even rotate with him as he's getting on a bit too. Could be good deal for Barca if turns true.

Would be difficult for Barca to land either of them not to mention both!
Can Klopp see keeping Coutinho regardless if there's a big offer (see Lewandowski) just to secure success next season and sell him next summer - when there is more time to find a replacement (which would be nearly impossible for Pool under these circumstances).

Dembele has mentioned many times that he prefers to stay in Dortmund for his development especially with the upcoming WC. Dortmund don't have to sell either and would find it very difficult to replace Dembele in this crazy market with the short period left.

Loosing Neymar would definitely hit Barca hard and even though it's Barca they would find it very difficult to get an 'adequate' replacement as this new market has his own rules where a lot of clubs can refuse to sell their best players.

Di Maria was dog shite and couldn't knuckle down any spot he was put in. Quite often he was given a go on the wing and couldn't complete 5 yard passes. Best saved for a di Marian thread, but my point is he was shite regardless of position.

Your examples are a bit bizzare. Deubachy was the only right back cover for Arsene and as such was required as a fall back. Morata was vital to Reals league success, he won most points for any club behind Leo Messi. Again, they would rather not sell him as he's an important player for them.

Chelsea will come around and do business if it comes to it, I don't see it happening this summer. They've had direct title rivals strengthened by seeing a top target stolen from under their nose. They will hold on to a good player to avoid strengthening them further.

Well, both Moratta and Matic now sold.
Told you that the Lukaku deal doesn't in any way mean Chelsea won't sell us Matic.
Clubs deal in a professional way. Not like kids who won't offer their candies if you don't share yours with them. Strengthening a direct rival is the only reason Chelsea would have refused but given that Matic only wanted to join us means they had to sell to us.
As for moratta, he was always going to be sold this summer.

Got to agree with this, the whole Lukaku and Matic thing was media nonsense. Lukaku said he knew months ago where he was going, so Chelsea had no reason to have grievance with us anyway.

But even if we had stolen him from under their noses, it's business, every club knows that every other club is going to target the players that they think best suit them. Sometimes, and quite often for similar level clubs, these targets will overlap. That's life, some you win, some you lose.

They're business men in charge of football clubs, not kids getting angry because their best friend chose someone else over them.

How is it ridiculous that Dier isn't considered homegrown ?

Because I imagine the whole concept was meant to be a means to improve the national team and get more English players playing PL football. That such a rule can exclude an English man playing for the national team means the purpose is defeated in this instance.

Perisic won't move anywhere if Inter won't get 50m €.
Euro... Not Pounds

Have we not bid £40M (supposedly), so is the point is we are very close to agreement?

SO this is pretty much done, a couple of Mill in asking price wont be a stumbling block, no way. I'm guessing its the add-ons that are the real hold up. With Inter hoping for a windfall or he'll stay by them being awkward.

Delaney asked if there is any truth in Aurier transfer.

Haven't watched Aurier at all, so no clue how he is, etc. Isn't he a RB?
We have Valencia (yes he can't play every week) and TFM, who is capable in my opinion, to rotate. LB we're quite short of quality - Blind and Darmian are decent, but not that good and only way to rely on them is if you mix them up into one player. Shaw as talented he is, needs to step up and deliver on consistent basis. Yes we are piled up Olin the LB, but piled up with quantity rather quality. RB seems like a position we could be looking to upgrade in the near future as we probably have other more important areas to improve.

So... what's your take on that "on the verge" deal? Why are we going for another RB, when it seems that we are covered there.

I agree with this.

Another factor was Roman Abramovich. I am actually beginning to like the guy at least for his attitude when it comes to selling players to rivals. If you want to go and the rival team offers a fair price, it seems Abramovich will be happy to sell to you. He does not have this dogmatic 'never-sell-to-a-rival' stance prevalent in football. Gallas, Cech, Mata, Lukaku, Matic etc.

Aurier on his day is one of the best right backs in the world, our only width on the right wing comes from our right back so that position is extremely important to the balance and shape of our team. Having a right back who is extremely effective and a danger going forward would be huge for us. No doubt Valencia is brilliant but it's not like it's impossible for him to be upgraded upon, if Aurier is available (for a decent price too) signing him would improve our first team and would offer us a lot in attack

Says Griezmann clause for this summer is 200M, before dropping back to 100M from January.
