Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Darmian, Shaw, Blind and Rojo disagree.

They can disagree all they want. Two of them are not even LBs (Rojo and Blind) and always get exposed when they play there, Shaw's been injured and/or unfit for two years now and Darmian (while decent defensively) gets a panic attack every time he crosses the half way line.

I would love for us to end our pursuit of Perisic and sign Mendy instead.

You're entitled to your opinion but left back is something we should address next season, not now. Our defending is fine and Jose famously employs just his right backs to bomb forward whilst his left backs tuck in next to the two CBs.

Again, the defensive midfield area is far more important right now.

That's your opinion.

Defence starts from midfield really, one of the reasons we had a good defensive record last season is that Pogba and Herrera did a lot of work defensively and dominated most games. In majority of games we don't even need a DM anyways. When we did need a DM we deployed Herrera there behind Pogba and Fellaini and he excelled in that role too. So between Herrera and Carrick I'd say we're OK considering it's not a permanent position.

Left back is more important by far, primarily because we use one in all our formations, unlike the DM role. It also has more impact on the team's play, because the lack of width from the LB means we become narrow on that side. Which is why it's Mourinho's priority to remedy that by getting a wide player on the left in Perisic.

Anyhow, let's not drag this on here, it's the transfer tweets thread. Happy to continue the discussion elsewhere, though it's simply a difference of opinions as I see it.

I expect Arsenal will be happy to sell for a bit less just to get him to PSG instead of a rival.

Would be funny if Sanchez decides to stay a season to get all the transfer fee as wages and take it easy for a season to prepare for the WC.

He is guaranteed a place in his national team so there's no need for him to go all out to earn a spot.

If that happens, Arsenal loses tons of money and got a lazy or "injured" player in return

Not really convinced Mourinho is that into him.

We are happy to spend 75m on Lukaku.
Are we really that concerned about 5m (or whatever the gap is) if Jose wanted him desperately.
I don't think it's that black and white. It might be €5m but if it's to pay for Inter's chairman's new Bugatti then there's every reason why we wouldn't be willing to stump up the cash. Inter are also adamant that they don't have to and don't want to sell so the ball is in their court. If Perisic wants the move he should refuse to board that plane to China.

I am strongly making a case for time to be redefined. '48 hours' especially. It should mean something like:

'...the number of times the earth rotates on its axis and or revolves around the sun before a club actually accepts to sell a player to another club'.

That should clear things up a lot next time we read something like, "Matic to sign for United within the next '48 hours'" or ""Inter Milan to reach agreement with United on Perisic in '48 hours'".

Aubameyang will stay at Dortmund. Transfer is off the table.

I don't think we give a toss what car the chairman drives. We have probably calculated exactly what we think he's worth, and Inter are stubborn about what they want.

If we wanted him desperately we would've paid the extra 5m even if the chairman were going to use it for hookers and drugs.

I don't know, with all the accusations flying around and people going to jail/paying massive fines, you have to be careful who's pockets you line. We don't need a transfer ban. If this was any other nation besides Italy, I'd say it was a matter of principle but I'd say there's a good chance some of that money is being asked to go somewhere shady.
