Is Morata the solution, or a big part of the solution?

Big part of the solution.

I find all people talking about Morata ability to replicate Zlatan's numbers as if this is our only problem. Morata can score 30 goals next season and we can still finish 5th because his teammates decide to score only 5 goals each in the league.

Whoever we buy this summer we won't change our whole attack. Mikhi, Pogba, Mata, Martial and Rashford all of them need to score more goals, at least +10 for each one of them in the league if we want to win the league.

I'm sure of Morata being able to score +20 next season and his movement will help the team overall and give us much dynamism. The real hope next season is the other players improving their numbers, and I'm expecting a lot from Pogba and Mikhi since they'll be the main creative force in the team and they need to start scoring more goals than last season, since we're also getting a DMF like Matic or Fabinho that'll free Pogba from defensive duties and make him more offensive.

I think Rashford will score 20 goals this season and the whole thing will look a lot rosier. Not that we don't need another striker, though.

How are you so sure of that? You people think he is as good as Zlatan ffs.

Zlatan's 17 league goals in hardly an insurmountable target.

I also firmly believe that Morata would easily score 20 goals next year

I'd be surprised if he doesn't get 30.

He didn't get 30 in 2 easier league with 2 top teams, what makes you so sure that he can do it in the PL in his first season. He wasn't even good enough to be a starter for Juventus.

Funny joke

Given the prices being banded about for strikers this window, that for a striker who got 30+ goals last season is great business. Reckon he'll be a hit, huge upgrade on Giroud.

Him and Mahrez will give Arsenal a huge boost. If they keep Sanchez then that team has some goal threat.

Well for one he'd be a consistent starter here, which would result in more games and minutes, but more importantly more continuity for him to gain form. Also, he had the 2nd best goals to minutes ratio in La Liga (behind Messi) last year and at 24 is just now entering his prime career years. All signs point to him playing at a higher level. A year or two from now people will look back at posts questioning him and chuckle.

Lets assume we get to CL quarters, have a cup run again to a final and obviously there's 38 league games so perhaps 60 games. If Mortata plays 50 of them I strongly believe he'll score more than 25, probably hit 30. I also believe that won't be entirely what he brings to the team as he'll help others and help make us a more dynamic team. I think people will be very, very happy with him this time next year.

He could also fail and people could be chucking at posts comparing him to Messi and at posts saying that he is better than Zlatan.

Its a tough one as its pretty rare for strikers to play in 50 fixtures in a year. Ruud only did it once, Henry 3 times, and Rooney once. If Morata plays in 50 then I agree 30 goals in all comps would be fair.

It's a bit funny that stats are allowed to be used to show Morata isn't all that good but when you show a stat of another player and state that stats aren't the be all end all you are making an assumption we are saying that Morata is better than that player. You can't pull up stats and base purely on stats and then when there is a stat that hurts your agenda completely shut it down. Can't have it both ways.

Lets assume 30 league starts, 8 Champions League and say 6 cup games with some bench appearances. Has to stay injury free of course.

Thanks for your opinion which is a good and well laid out opinion, and I certainly hope you are correct. I was specifically asking Bepi because I am sure he has seen Morata play in Juventus, so he will add more to the discussion from the point of view of Morata's strengths, his personality, whether or not he is a clinical striker, etc. Many of these traits which you can see in a player but which statistics just won't show you.

Morata is proven at the highest level and only 24. You can't fault him for not having been a starter for Real or Juve in 2014-2017, them having been the best and the third / fourth team in the world in that window. For United, he would be a signing similar to Pogba in magnitude and potential imho.

Thank you. I still don't think he is worth the amounts being quoted in the press for him, but it's not my money.

Hopefully Leipzig stand firm but if they are willing to sell Keita we should be in for him, we need another box to box CM and it looks like Saul wont be available any time soon.

Just the 9 years, counting down the days now.

I totally agree. He has been hob nobing with King Ronaldinho lately. :D

wth is going on? There's not even rumors of signings anymore.

This reminds me of the dark transfer days of Fergie's last few seasons. Summer after summer, praying for a CM while we hung on desperately to Hargreaves, Anderson, Cleverly and brought Scholes out of retirement.

This again please just for Pogba's reaction.
