Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

They don't, but at least we were interested in Griezmann. Don't think we are interested in Fabinho.
So why did you make reference to Griezmann? This is nothing like Griezmann.

Because they both went on TV and said something about them coming to us could happen. That hardly ever happens.

This based on what?

Nobody really reported on it except Di Marzio (who hasn't had any new information in the last month and a bit) and the BBC also said we weren't in for him. Woodard may have falsely briefed them but I doubt it.

He is literally whoring himself to us. Not over the top, but it's obvious he would jump at the opportunity. Any other player you would get the auction line "well, there's also Juve, and PSG, and City...". Nothing of the sort here.

Rough translation:

- What would you say if you got approached by Mourinho to join him again like (your ex-teammate, for context) Morata

- That would be tempting. I would have to meet with my agent, with Monaco, make sure it's all OK. But it's a great team and I would think (pause) Good (deadpan, suppressing a more excited outburst).

- Well said, but we could see the spark in your eyes (Fabinho starts laughing)

Darmstadt 98 has signed Lacazette till 2020.

The French midfielder has joined the 2.Bundesliga club on a free transfer from 1860 Munich.

I meant Lacazette from Lyon.

Don't understand why people are so obsessed with Real signing Mbappe with the money we pay for Moratta.
It's their money once we pay it.
It's not like Mbappe wants to join us nor are Madrid our Premier League rivals.
Monaco has refused offers from United, Real, Pool and Arsenal.
And it's being said Mbappe only wants Real. So who cares what they do with our Moratta money?
And Moratta price will remain high because we are United and we desperately need a striker and also because perez is a D**K.
It has nothing to do with collecting money to sign Mbappe.
Thanks to the state LVG has left us in by selling Chicha, RVP and Welbeck, we have to shell out whatever clubs ask for their forwards.

That's totally the wrong environment for him to go to. He's got a relatively soft personality, so being surrounded by other soft personalities isn't going to bring out the best in him.

I think Mahrez is potentially world class, but he needs to be kicked up the arse every single day to perform at that level. Arsenal is the wrong choice for him, and he's the wrong choice for Arsenal. If I were Wenger, I'd be prioritising players with the kind of winning mentality they're about to lose in Sanchez. Sometimes leadership can count more than talent.

Does anyone else find this, along with the single sourced tweet about us agreeing a deal a bit suspicious?

I mean in that basically happened at same time. Normally i'd feel this is about trying to get a new contract but i cant help but feel its using us to create a market for him.

He's desperate for a move to a top club it seems. Second time name dropping us with regards to a move. Imo this makes it very clear we are not interested.

There is a growing cynicism in the caf about transfer links now. I like that.

Atletico would loan them out until January.
Can you loan players without registering them? Technically he wouldn't be on their books till Jan. Similar situation to Arda Turan sitting out half a seaon for Barcelona isn't it?

Please hurry up and bid for Fabinho. What on earth is Ed waiting for?

He's the perfect midfielder to compliment Herrera and Pogba, and he's extremely keen to join us. This seems like a no brainer and surely it would be a good idea to get him signed asap so he can settle in before the tour. Lindelof and Fabinho in the bag would be a very sold start and it would allow Ed to focus fully on the more hard to get attacking players.

He had only one good season where most of his goals came from the bench, scoring in dead games. While his performance in Juventus was average for a striker scoring only 8 goals. He is 24 years and there is nothing special about him, usually brilliant talents shine already at age 18 and 19 like Rooney, Ronaldo, Mbape and many others. But for him, to hit 24 years and still a substitute is nothing impressive. I am not saying he is not going to turn out to be a great player, but signing him for that big money is a huge risk on someone who has a very high failure rate than the other world class strikers.

I think this is unfair, the boy is very good indeed. Messi and Ronaldo skew our perspective but they are once-in-a-generation kind of players and there is no better striker than Morata in the market that you can have for €70-80m.

I don't think Mourinho is keen on him. If he was, this would have been wrapped up as it isn't the first time Fabinho has said moving to United specifically would be great.

So who might be smoke screen here, for whom I wonder.

For Mourinho to say he wants Fabinho.

He is a Jose Mourinho type of player and when it comes right down to it, that's what really matters since he is the manager. Tall, quick, good predatory instinct, team player, hard worker, good with his head, hungry and experienced. He has played with the best in the world. He has won important titles. He plays for Spain. I have no doubt that if surrounded with the right players, Morata will be a hit at United. At times being an understudy for a long time is the best type of preparation a player needs.

Fabinho's one of the best in his position in the world. We need a player for that position... I'm sure he'd be on Mourinho's famed list.

Smoke and fire though, seems like this one won't go away.

Express have announced Liverpool have signed Salah (with pictures of Salah signing some stuff) before Liverpool have.

I suspect so.

We know Jose is looking for a DM but who is he after? If he could pick any of Matic, Dier and Fabinho, who would he pick? I'm betting he will go for Dier first, Matic second and then Fabinho if he misses out on the first two. Jose is very 'Euro centric' in his approach to football. Using national sides analogy, Jose would be the coach of Germany or England rather than Brazil or Argentina. He would manage Ronaldo rather than Messi.

It looks like Fabinho would be the easiest to get of the three I listed. If Jose desperately wanted him, I believe Fabinho would have been on his way to Old Trafford by now.

As you are throwing stats in, I'll give you one
Juventus:
Morata: 93 games / 27 goals
Ibra: 92 games / 26 goals

I bet Fabinho story will be like Morgan one. Everybody hoping we're in for him and he sneaks to Carrington together with Moratta. Obviously I hope it would turn out to be a better addition then Morgan was.

It was already mentioned probably but Corriere dello sport claims we've already agreed a deal with Fabinho.
