Yes, but Shaw is a better FB than Stones a CB at this stage, plus there aren't many great FBs right now. Shaw was young, but when it comes to defending he was already a top player, Stones isn't.
We still overpaid at the time, but if you want to talk about quality, you can't really compare Shaw and Stones right now, especially if Shaw stay fit you already know what you are getting as it is much simpler with FBs, while with CBs like Stones (when the players strengths aren't really on the defending side, but more on his ball playing abilities) you have to wait at least till he is 23-24.
