We didn't put the bid in as we were trying to negotiate the structure.

What about the press heard about an english club in negotiation with Barcelona for Pedro and they assumed that it was United, like they did with Firmino.

27+3, I read. I'm not sure we'd have disagreed to pay out similarly if we really wanted to

Yeah, I just saw that.

To be honest I'm a fan of Pedro and would have loved him in a United shirt, but the reports were fishy.

The Firmino story came from some random journo or was it an agent, in Brazil. The Pedro story was covered by every main journo from the English and Spanish press, totally different.

The same journos bullshitting about De Gea and /or Otamendi and/or Cillessen and/or Cavani?

Edit: By the way I'm only teasing you, I don't really care anymore he is a Chelsea player now.

How? Mourinho's basically saying that Chelsea weren't aware they were competing with United for Pedro, which also suggests we never really went in for him.
To me Mourinho sounds like he's saying they signed him because they like him, regardless of whether we were interested or not. Probably because Chelsea have been accused of signing players before, just so other teams don't sign them.

Not really saying that they didn't beat us

He said he only wants to beat United on the pitch, and that he doesn't have any interest in beating us in the transfer market.

How do you know all these facts, is it wishful thinking or what - there is no proof whatsoever- and you're calling other people naïve:wenger:

If you really believe we pulled out of the Pedro deal or were never in for him the very minute he agrees to join Chelsea, then yes, I'd call you naive.

Please read my lips......................

He doesn't need to read lips, he can read minds!

Either one of you could go to the Google machine and find any number of reports to support your theories but in all likelihood none of us will ever hear the true story. In these cases I tend to believe what the club is telling us. Yeah, they may be lying, but the journalists/twatters are way more likely to be making things up since no one is telling them anything with complete truth either.

Exactly, the weird thing for me is the lack of new information from the start to the end, they basically said the same thing, but nothing never happened until Chelsea signed him and by the way Chelsea were mentioned at the start.
City supposedly made a better offer but never got an answer and United were supposedly strongly interested but never contacted him despite having agreed on a contract with him.

Pedro said that it's Mourinho's phone call that convinced him to move, do we really think that Van gaal would have authorized a contract offer without talking to the player?

Wake me up when we sign someone who will actually improve us - Bale Müller or Kane for example
Otherwise I'll concentrate on watching our matches.
I admonish myself for getting into an argument about a player I didn't want and who didn't come and wouldn't have improved us anyway- pointless

Not a tweet as such...

Antonio Sanz - "Maybe United fell asleep. They were in for Pedro, but Chelsea were faster & within 24 hours reached an agreement with Barca"

I'm kind of surprised there hasn't been more rumours linking us to him. Played very well against Arsenal in the CL, is left-footed, likely to leave and Monaco seemed to miss him against Valencia on Tuesday.

Re: Rafik Zekhnini, the 17-year-old who made Hummels say WTF.

He is talented but it's just stupid for a player like him to go to a club like United. He is not good enough to play for the first team - and he is too good to play for the reserves. Players like him should go to smaller Leagues like Holland to get gametime

We could loan him out

I know he's a tit and he looks like the sort of bloke who lives in a one bedroom apartment with his mother, but I suppose it could be true...

I refuse to take a journalist who starts his tweet with 'super boom' seriously :p
