This part is wrong, he doesn't run the club, like he doesn't run Monaco, like he never ran Real Madrid. And there is no conflict of interest because Lay Hoon is the boss and she works directly for Lim.
Not officially..but he has "significant influence "on its operations..wasnt that one of the reasons why the president quit? ..and now he has to act both in the best interest of the client who wants to leave, and the club who want the full amount of the clause.

I think that it's because he had no power, from what I understand Lay Hoon take the decisions with Lim approval, Salvo was becoming useless. People love to put everything on Mendes back.

And he has influence because he can bring you good players quickly and he is friend and business partner with Lim.

Edit: From what I just read, Salvo had a problem with Nuno, the current manager, and asked for his head, but Lim chose the manager.

I understand that..but the Negredo transfer was a loan last season, with the purchase obligation only occuring this year..so its likely that Valencia had not paid the amount, especially as it seemed that they were looking for loopholes to avoid paying it.,.Highest spenders in Europe, I know..
They had to draw up a new contract a few months ago. Obviously everyone's signature is required, including City's. Without a method of payment agreement in place City wouldn't have agreed in the first place and Negredo would have returned to City. The fact that they agreed means that they had no problems with it.

I do agree that he has no official title there..but can you at least agree that he has a significant influence on the decision making at Valencia considering his business relationship with Lim..remember that the Valencia manager is also a friend of Mendes, and that appointment was a controversial decision at the time..although it has proven a success with time..then there is the transfer of that brazillian teen to Valencia which eventually fell through, which was taking place while the president was concluding a deal with a different player..which appears to be the straw that broke the camels back with the president..My point is that Mendes has a lot of influence there, which is in direct conflict with getting the best deal for his client( A lower fee is better for Otamendi due to higher wages he can get)

At the time of the agreement yes, but with his subsequent perfomances, Valencia are now almost forced to pay for a player they would much rather sell off...So they'll likely have to pay it..and the concept of set-off is allowed in law..

Mendes has a lot of influence its pretty clear.

Btw I've only seen this report in some English media and amongst City fans that Valencia haven't paid. Probably to make it look as if City got a great deal on Otamendi. Not one report officially or from any of the local reliable Valencia media like superdeporte. I don't believe it.

No I disagree, Lim needs Mendes resources and uses them, while Mendes wants to make a little bit of money, Lim is the one holding all the cards. Mendes has no influence on the club, he is heavily present because the owner wants to.

I think that Marca means that Madrid wants to negotiate, they have decided that they won't wait a year.Marca and Madrid have decided that Keylor is your next GK

The thing is that Superdeporte themselves have their own agenda so you dont really know who to believe..but I think all will be revealed within the next two weeks..

Nice, shall I let Louis know that his next keeper has been decided?!

No Senór Woodward please don't hang up, we're also willing to throw in this free toast rack

The one thing Ive learnt from this whole saga is that Marca blantantly lie or are very misinformed..In June this was a done deal and it was just a matter of time.."He will be presented next sunday..Oh no, the Sunday after that...No, He is being held hostage"...I think at this stage , Its just better to ignore them

But legally the fact that Mendes has financial interest in Peter Lim's business dealing at Valencia is enoough to constitute a conflict of interest..especially as I have explained, when it is in the best interest of Otamendi to leave for a lower fee

Is Mendes even Otamendi agent?

Probably they thought that United wouldn't keep their demands and later started the mess with Ramos.Actually they have been very quiet(for what is Marca in summer)until a couple of weeks ago.

Laporte would possibly be worth that much for the fact that he fits the Van Gaal philosophy and is so young.

That is true although most Valencia media don't really hold back especially La Ser who has been very critical of the board to that point Salvo was not very fond of them. Also it's funny that most City fans and sites like transfermarkt uk have already chalked up €30m as profit for City yet now apparently it's not been paid and because of it they are getting a great deal on Otamendi. Can't have your cake and eat it too.

Yes, that would be double counting..but its a very good deal that City got though..30 mil for a 30 y.o Striker..but maybe they are more clauses in that.

Yeah good deal that. Hate it when teams that are already swimming in oil money make good deals or bargains on the market. Overall they are still overpaying though and I believe have the highest wages now.
