Kind of difficult to understand why we are haggling so much on meeting the buy out clause. Most likely failure of Di Maria meant we are trying to put a lot into add ons than direct transfer fees. Or what else?

Didn't Ddg sign up with Mendes before he moved to Utd? Thats over 4 years ago.

Not sure why he isn't being considered, beast of a forward, pacey and very tricky in the box.

I find it very odd as well. There must be something not quite right with him, something that doesn't meet our criteria.

He would be a FAR better option to De Bruyne for City as well. I'm glad they haven't been link with him.

Griezmann would pretty much kill 2 birds with one stone, great winger, who is fantastic at taking his man on, can go out wide or cut inside, pacey, great back up for Rooney.

The new contract with a huge buyout clause indicates he's not going anywhere, which is probably why he's not being bandied about.

I think a goal scoring forward has to be priority as we seem to have good options at the back, so he would be me more than ideal.

That is nonsense, Mendes became his agent shortly before he moved to United.
Yeah, much more likely that DDG hired him in the first place with the objective of eventually moving to Real without the hassle of a direct move from Atletico - and that's where we came in. DDG replaced his old agent with Mendes shortly before coming to us, so it fits. I think one of the gossip rags out in Spain wrote something similar very early this summer.

Why couldn't Madrid offer United the extra 12m on top of their bid and get him now?
Makes no sense
ermm, because that way Madrid won't have to spend 30 million pounds on him and instead can just pay 12 million to make sure he only signs for them. Though I think it is BS. Never heard of 12 million as signing on fee for anyone, let alone a GK who is desperate to join them in the first place.

so this buyout clause is a legally binding number in Pedro's contract is it?

The rumor was that Lewandowski got a 10m Bonus.

I am sure the 12 million signing on fee is as much to line Mendes' pockets considering he is missing out on the percentage of the transfer fee. The amount itself does seem excessive considering DDG probably wouldn't go to Bayern, Barca or PSG but it locks the deal down and the people who need to get paid, get paid.

It sounds like something Leeds United of old would do...

We seem to be looking for (dare I say) value in the market and that's a hefty price for him!

Apparently the buy-out is currently £46 million, and in today's market, that is a very fair price for this quality of player. In fact, I'd say he should be valued at that.

He or Reus are pretty much my dream signings at the moment

I did not know about that, although I would be surprised if Bayern actually went that route.

The signing on fee are big in the first place 10%-15% of the transfer fee, so if a player sign for free they must be big.

Delighted that Mangala won't be part of the deal. Still not sure on the merit of signing Otamendi for a big fee though, I'm happy with our 4 CB's as it is, although I'm likely letting the optimism of the opening two games obscure my judgement.

I think most of the forum is delighted at the news that Mangala is expected to stay.

While i don't think thats necessarily the case it wouldn't surprise me to be honest with Mendes.

We have released most of Mendes's clients recently and once DDG leaves next year i do hope we steer clear of him and his clients in future

I'm sure they are, just as they were delighted with City signing Demichelis.

Nah Demichelis was a solid defender, proven he can play at the top level. He knows the game and can read the play.

Mangal is a timebomb waiting to happen, kind of like Jones, but to a greater extent. Plus he cost £42m.
