We apparently have the ambition to compete for the league this season, a "fair price" shouldn't exactly be our priority. Otamendi would instantly improve the quality in the back, anyone would admit that and the guy is certainly available. I refuse to believe our scouts have been unable to find somebody who would be able to strengthen us up front or at least add competition that's out there for a "fair price".

Otamendi was good last season but wasn't exactly stellar till then. Plus he is going to £35m so understandably it would be a bit steep.

We have Rooney who is one of the better English strikers Hernandez and Wilson who are good strikers themselves. There are very few strikers who can be bought and who will add competition to them.

Hernandez is a player our manager deemed surplus to requirements last season and Wilson, for all that he might have shown at a lower level, has proved jack shit thus far. If our scouts can't find competition for those strikers.

Even ignoring top class players, the likes of Benteke and Austin are surer bets than the likes of Wilson.

Lvg has made statements suggesting he is open to Hernandez staying. If we were to buy benteke and Austin, they would still be deemed below United level. Plus it's unfair to compare benteke and Austin who are about 5 years older to Wilson.

I don't think that was the terminology he used in regards to Welbeck and Hernandez. He said he couldn't guarantee them game time and if they preferred to be elsewhere, he'd understand. Since then he's seen RvP and Falcao fall off a cliff and need for reinforcements elsewhere, so there's a good chance he thinks he can do with Hernandez as the backup for now.

Still think Berahino would be a decent punt for giving us something different up front. Also wouldn't come expecting to instantly play ahead of Rooney.

He's got pace, can beat a man and is a decent finisher. Youth also on his side.

I agree, hes a natural finisher too

Third hand information - but a friend of mine has been informed by "a reliable source" from United that there'll be two more signings that should be announced imminently. Allegedly the higher ups already have the two deals lined up but there was a purposeful delay while we announced the adidas deal.

Take from that what you will. But I'm excited!

It wasn't Dave from the Dog and Bull was it?

Totally agree, along with being English it would be a great punt. I'm still hoping we do go for him, as Ive rated him since he scored twice at OT when they beat us 2-1 a couple of years ago.

Edit: he just scored the winner and bloody hell that was only the season before last. How things have changed!

Was the Adidas deal a secret then? I don't see what one has to do with the other myself.

Apparently we have two big name signings lined up that will be announced this week in the adidas kit. You heard it hear first

It sounds like bollocks to me anyway. You think LvG would accept missing out on 4 or 5 days training with the squad for the sake of not upsetting the new sponsor? The season starts next week ffs!
I thought we'd already established that this was bollocks.

I hope Cilessen (forgive the spelling) isn't one of them....
And please God let it include a CB.

Pedro certainly fits the bill in terms of adding more pace to our attack like van Gaal stated that he wanted. I like the look of our squad if the only change is Di Maria out and Pedro in.

That's of course assuming a new centre half is almost off the table at this point.

Well, Mitten says that we're looking for CB and ST.

Can't find tweets about this to post here but Le Parisien has an interview today with Aulas. Rafael quoted by the journalists regarding defensive targets "according to English sources", Aulas answers that this has been stopped as another target in progress.
