Spurs are slowly, one by one, selling off all the players that Glaston once hailed as the greatest thing since sliced bread.
They will be replaced by similar shite, which Glaston will again pass off as gold nuggets.

What happened to him? Like Nastasic, Chiriches looked quite good in his first season.

And to think I was slightly jealous of the Capoue signing. And I can't believe Lamela cost that much money. Only Chadli and Eriksen have really worked out, but luckily for Spurs both were real bargains as well.
Yeah Chadli is probably a £15m player now whereas Eriksen is pushing onto becoming £30m player. Still terrible piece of business, they lost £8m on Paulinho and that's only because Chinese were willing to pay £9m fee for him this year, lost £5m on Chiriches, around £4m on Capoue and will almost certainly lost north of £10m on Lamela and vast majority of Soldado fee.

They broke their own transfer record three times that summer, and all three of the players they bought were complete failures.

I think you should tag Glaston for the real figures:lol:

I would still see Pedro as a more suitable player in his system/style of play. It remains to be seen which formation he'll deploy this season, after using 4-4-2 in pre-season, but with the players at his disposal and his constant insistence on balance, it could still be 4-3-3. Pedro is a far better fit as a wide forward with his penetrative movement beyond the defence and pace. He's more inclined to hold width too, whereas di Maria drifts inwards more IMo. This is conjecture of course, but I still see LVG opting for the formation he's largely favoured throughout his managerial career.

Quite possibly. Still, we overpaid for di Maria last year and his value is going to decrease following a poor season. I think £44M is a reasonable fee. On the otherhand, £22M for Pedro would signify great business. Someone proven at the highest level and who was a key component in the greatest club side. In this financial climate, he's more like a £30M player.

The point still remains Louis van Gaal wanted Angel di Maria to stay therefore even if you think Pedro is more suited to his system, he liked Angel di Maria suggesting he fits the profile of his winger (not saying Pedro doesn't, just that you might not think Angel fits his system that well but Louis does). As I mentioned earlier it's a myth around here that he doesn't like players who risk losing possession to create chances, he wants his attackers to be creative, Depay understands the philosophy and is trying to make things happens, Rooney, Young and Mata also are expected to create they just need to find their confidence.

Louis van Gaal has also stated his preferred formation is 4-3-3 with the point forward, he feels 4-3-3 with the point backwards leaves the striker isolated, with the point forward is two holding and one ahead, he likes to push the 10 further up like he did with Muller, right behind the striker.

Angel di Maria's value won't decrease that much, since the buying club will be from Europe as the Euro recovers his value in pounds will be better.

I think he's easily the best young English CB to come through since Rio and Terry.
That is true. But then the comparison are Smalling, Jones, Cahill and Jagielka. So it means as much as saying a few years ago that Cleverley was the best United midfielder after Carrick.

Agree that Stones now is a good player with world class potential, though.

This word gets used so much around here.
