Our current midfield has played 2 pre season games together, I wouldn't hype it too much. We'll see.
Same with arsenal, when fit they have a good defence and now they have cech it could wind up being the strongest part of their team next year.
If we lose de gea saying our defence is better doesn't sound as convincing and its meaningless until the season starts (or the window closes for that matter as it could change)
If we kept our current squad i'd be confident but you'd have to expect a couple more departures at this point.

It wouldn't be too bad. I think he's a fairly effective player and would bolster our frontline, although not what we should be looking for if we want more of an out and out goalscorer. Unlikely that we'd get him for much cheaper than that, certainly.

He is but if your being realistic we wouldn't get that money for Hernandez and it's the same situation. Quality player who is a squad player. That shouldn't cost you £20m unless your desperate for quality.

You could argue that Pedro's more important to Barca than Hernandez is to us, though. We loaned Hernandez out last season, and had he stayed he'd have probably been very limited in his chances. Pedro played 50 games overall for Barca, so featured very regularly for them, which is rather impressive when you consider the sheer talent they have up front.
Presumably the striker on Wenger's list is some 15 year old kid he can promote from the youth team in 3 or 4 years time. He surely wouldn't think about buying a player capable of delivering trophies now.
