no its not. we dont have to sell anyone if we dont want to (especially if its a player we bought barely 11 months ago).
yeah but i based it on di marias quotes and van gaals press conference. im not the only one who though di maria is off when i heard van gaal talk about him in the presser a few days back.Or you can just ignore it. 99% of what you hear/read with regards to football transfers is absolute nonsense.
Except that Madrid have not said exactly that. They have put a price of 70 million Euros on Ramos, just like we may have done with both DDG and Di Maria. If both players want out and the buying club is willing to meet our demands, then we are better off letting them go and getting replacements who are actually committed to the cause.i dont think de geas case from di maria are different because both are being coveted by clubs and both would happily play there instead of at Manchester. its up to us to keep them. we should be saying the same thing Real are saying for Ramos no? hes not for sale and hes staying 100%. instead we are giving iffy answers which leave room for other clubs and the media to think that the player is for sale. thats what im arguing about..why is the player for sale?? we just bought him. and if hes not then why arent we saying so unequivocally. if he wants to go why arent we saying no just as we have done in the past with other world class players?
whatever the reasons might be one thing is obvious that united are ok with selling di maria otherwise there would be no negotiations. that in itself is ridiculous.
did anyone from madrid say 70m euros in the press. no. only that hes not for sale and we are not letting him go. ramos is unhappy but hes an integral part of the team and world class player. we should be keeping our world class players and offering them assurances instead of letting them sulk and selling them because they are sulking if indeed thats the reason we are selling him.Except that Madrid have not said exactly that. im talking abt di maria not de gea...and here is what van gaal said when asked abt whether di maria would stay ...Have you heard anything different from any official of United for either Di Maria or DDG? The best you had was LVG saying it is a process and that is it. Rest is all based on media coverage.
Ogden on the Young story now too

We shall see,"
"In football, it is a process. It's a process for Di Maria and Man Utd. We shall see.
"But he is still a member of United and he said he will come out on July 25.
doesnt sound like the responses given by him for de gea or by madrid for ramos.
when he said that im sure half the caf thought hes going out for sure.
How are the two related? If he takes a wage cut, will that extra money be somehow the critical factor in us buying someone? If we really want to get back to our best then he has to take a wage cut imo, he's just a squad player.
He's just had an amazing season, I think he'd feel extremely hard done by if he takes a wage cut. However, he is on £120k or something ridiculous. If we really want to get back to our best then he has to take a wage cut imo, he's just a squad player.
He said he'd take a wage cut if it meant him staying at the club. He wants to be here and he deserves to be rewarded for last season. He's just had an amazing season, I think he'd feel extremely hard done by if he takes a wage cut. However, he is on £120k or something ridiculous.
Reasons why we may sell
1. Player is unhappy. There is no point in playing someone who feels unhappy in the team. It will be like playing 10 players. He is not going to be able to play to his full potential if he is unhappy.
2. another year like this is going to erode his value even further. We would have wasted time and money. We can refuse to sell players who don't really have a problem staying here but others there is no point of playing
3. David de gea was one of our best players, maybe if it wasn't for him we would have lost some of the games we won or Drew. There is nothing to suggest that he would affect his performance specially as it's the year before euro and he would want to play well to get into the squad. Di Maria doesn't have that motivation too.
4. All teams sell players even if they don't want to if the player is unhappy. Its just the matter of getting the valuation that we want. And there is nothing to suggest we are happy with a lower valuation.
So point is we don't want to sell. However if the player and his family are unhappy with the city, I really don't see the point of making him stay. They say a good worker is a happy worker. Same applies here too
Did he? Fair enough. Even if he took a 20-40k cut he'd be on more than a lot of players here.He said he'd take a wage cut if it meant him staying at the club. He wants to be here and he deserves to be rewarded for last season.
Yes and that is what I have said. He said it is a process. Maybe they are trying to persuade him to stay. Maybe they have told PSG we won't sell. Maybe it is just LVG trolling us. I admit that he could have just said he is our player and will remain so, but he also mentioned that he will come to join the squad on July 25th. So he is expecting him not be sold till then. That was 8-9 days ago. That is a pretty long time for transfers to take place and LVG still sounded confident of having him with the squad. That does not look like someone who is willing to let his player go.

You actually hold onto every statement which LVG makes? Why will it affect the player? You think he does not already know what is going on behind the scenes. Would you prefer he says all is hunky dory and then sells Di Maria the next day? My point is you are getting all twisted because of a single statement by LVG. If the club is fine with letting Di Maria go, then they must have someone lined up. Nothing that LVG says to the media changes anything.thats all im trying to say. he didnt say what was necassary and gave an ambigous reply which would affect both the player and the fans negatively. it seems more likely from such a statment that we are open to the idea of selling him. anyway time will tell what happens. i hope we dont sell him.

Where do people keep getting the idea tha di Maria wants to leave? If paper talk was true, we'd be the only team in the Premier League. As of now, the player has said he wants to stay...
It doesnt matter what he said to the media. He hates the media anyway. Its more important what he'll say to him in person in 2 days if he hasnt already.Regardless of whether di Maria wants to go, we should want to keep him. And van Gaal, in that press conference, should have made it clear that we want di Maria to stay. He didnt which many believe was incorrect.
Don't forget his wages on this current (first) contract with us included his signing-on bonus being paid over the length of his contract, so that will now have been paid meaning there will be a natural drop on what he will be on in the future. If we really want to get back to our best then he has to take a wage cut imo, he's just a squad player.

Lets say I dont agree, sure it would be nice if he said to the media but more important is to say it to him.Youre failing to see the point. He should have made it clear to the media that we want him to stay. The message is aimed at di Maria and not the media. Publically making it clear would do his confidence some good.
You have not answered my question. How is us getting back to our best related to him taking a pay cut?Because he isn't good enough to be on a start XI CL winning side and by some miracle he was it was because the other 10 players carried him. So those wages are way too high for a squad player who is surplus to demand.
What LVG said was that it is a process. Maybe the club want to keep him but he is desperate to leave. The club would be willing to let him go if we can get an offer which we think is good for us. I don't understand what is wrong with that. As for LVG's statement about it being a process, that does not change anything. Even if he said we are not letting him go but the process is already underway, what difference would it have made?Regardless of whether di Maria wants to go, we should want to keep him. And van Gaal, in that press conference, should have made it clear that we want di Maria to stay. He didnt which many believe was incorrect.
im going by his statements made for dea gea vs his statements made for di maria. lvg words are a reflection of whats going on behind the scenes
why shouldnt it affect the player if the manager publically doesnt back him up and doesnt say that hes an integral part of the team and his transfer will not be discussed and insrtead says its a process
the club shouldnt be fine with letting di maria go is precisely my point (for the reasons ive mentioned in previous posts).
i think theres no end to this. so maybe you can have your opinion and i can have mine. we will see what happens.
