Real Madrid have long convinced themselves that it's more about the profile and prestige of players rather than actually, you know, winning trophies. Sadly a large majority of fans like our own seem to believe the same thing. It's the pathetic aspect of the whole thing that bugs me. He was with us when we were so much better than Real, spent his last year winging about going there when were World Champions! We clearly pursued him and were willing to pay top money for him if he was interested but he rejected us. I am not saying he should love Man United or anything as for a Portuguese, that would be quite baffling. But that does not negate how pathetic it is that every summer, our fans go on about idolizing him and showing him this unconditional love. I mean come on, get the hint already! Can you even begin to imagine the ripples Woody's last few days trading has made through the corridors of world football? Headlines which have basically everyone in the shade, have changed things, in lots of ways. LVG's MU project looking like the place to be for the coming season. Heavyweight opposition just a little lighter, all of a sudden. The Manchester winter seems marginally less miserable, the hailstones like buckshot on a Tuesday night in Stoke, etc. The new model, yet to be road-tested, looks awesome on paper. Has to be giving some thoughtful moments to the likes of Mendez, other agents, ambitious footballers, girlfriends, even.
