Pieces starting to fall into place it looks like. Assuming we get one of Otamendi or Ramos as our big CB signing to go with Memphis, Darmian and Schneiderlin, with RVP, DDG, Rafael, Evans and Chicha out.

Still think we have a surprise move up our sleeve, probably for a striker.

I know its the express but still..

They are basing it on this:

There's no way we'd be letting Valdes go

Yeah that's just making stuff up...Could be anyone really - Ibra (doubtful), Villa (Unlikely), Afelley (Possible), Caceres (maybe), Toure (you never know)...point being, them throwing up Valdes is just guess work. Still think he will be our number 1 next season.

You would think so since Rooney and Wilson will be our only strikers. In fact I'd go as far as saying we need 2 strikers.

Real are so strange with their transfers, when Iker first started struggling they brought in Diego lopes who was absolutely sensational for them. Then they for some reason decided to keep Iker and sold Lopez to bring in Navas who had just had a great world cup following a terrific club season. Navas barely got to play though as Iker played a large proportion of the matches, now it seems like they are letting both go while bringing in Ddg and this lad.

To be fair, Muller is what we need up top. Can't see it happening but stranger transfers have happened.

Based on the Bale scale of player valuations, he's definitely worth that.
He's worth more than €80 million? I've never seen him win a game on his own like Ronaldo for club and country or Bale for country. So please explain.

At the age of 25 he's scored 2 less World cup goals than Pele and 2 more than Maradona...He always scores in the big champions league games for Bayern no matter who the opposition is if he is in the first XI...He's an elite striker and unfortunately for him that Bayern have 2 elite strikers in the same team......He's a winner and is easily worth Di Maria money but I seriously doubt Bayern would sell him

To be fair @Mainoldo has a good point. Muller is very good at everything, but he doesn't have one thing that stands out like the world class player do for that sort of fee.

I agree! He's a fabulous player and I rate him very, very highly but a game changer he is not. I reckon there are only 8 or 9 in world football at the moment and I think a fee like that should be reserved for game changers.

A great player but not my favorite .The price seems excessive , but it is inevitable that United will have that problem in the future. All clubs are aware of the new deal with Adidas and the financial power. In any case , I see it difficult , I think he is very identified with Bavaria and Bayern. The relationship with Pep should be very bad to consider an exit. I would try Gotze before, certainly cheaper and with the talent that the midfield is missing

I don't think it has to do with our financial status. He is a great player and these cost a lot of money. If you don't have it, you don't go for them, otherwise you pay a lot (the price would be the same for Stoke).

At the end of the day if you have a proven record of scoring endless goals at the very highest level against the likes of Brazil, Argentina, Real Madrid, Barcelona then you are going to have an insanely inflated price tag......The likes of Harry Kane, Lacazette etc might be potentially as good as Muller yet are relatively untested and can not boast such a feat on the biggest stage and therefor they can not have a similar price.....I don't think Suarez is considerably better than Muller and he went for 80 million last summer so that is the going rate for a player that has a proven record in terms of scoring consistently against the best teams on the world stage at International level and club level

To be fair, we didn't need a game changer this year, we needed someone who would just score against the "smaller" teams and he can do just that. I do agree about the price, but I am sure he would win us points.

RE Muller - He is one of the marketable players in Germany. Might just be an Adidas related thing.

Excellent.... I trust Alex Crook.

If we can get Morgan signed up ASAP, I'd be comfortable with us going into the new season with Memphis, Darmian and Morgan confirmed signings.

I can then sit back, put my feet up and not be so anxious with some of the other signings (Ramos/Otamendi). We've quite clearly already strengthened the squad.

Does this Alex Crook actually know anything? Been saying the same thing for a couple of weeks now (probably a good thing) about a "quick resolution". Nothing new has come to surface yet.

Regardless, he'd probably be a brilliant Sun or Star journo with a name like that.

You may have a point here, He is German, and sponsored by Adidas. What better way to launch your new kit deal with a player as marketable as him?

That is true. We do not need that to compete for the league but as far as I am concerned, we don't need much at all to compete for the league anyway. Chelsea, City and Arsenal are good teams obviously but nowhere near some frightening force. If we wanna be a great a team though, we do need a game changer, Depay could turn into one for us for all we know but I don't think buying a lot of great players will make up for the lack of one. That's another subject though so we probably should leave it there.

True. I know the media love to big up Mourinho and his Chelsea side but they are far from unbeatable. Whoever wins the league title could well and truly be decided by the signings made in the next month or so.
