"A bit of old school off the radar United business, this"

Unlike the majority of the previous transfers under LvG that the British press have been all over from the beginning.

Herrera, Falcao, Di Maria, Rojo, Blind, Depay...
Those three were done deal in less than 2 days after any good rumors. Depay was destined to go to Liverpool or PSG and we agreed a deal in 1 day.

That's terrible.. It's extremely unbalanced
Not to argue over a line up that will probably never happen, but it has two natural wide men, Rooney playing in a role that he can interchange with Muller.
Two midfielder who excelled in their midfield roles. A Carrick replacement playing alongside Herrrera who took his chance to make that position his own last year and a back 4 that all play their natural positions.
Where's the unbalance?

Have you seen Muller play, like, at all?

Muller is better than every forward in your team.

One thing Muller isn't, is limited.

That's one of the dumbest things I've read this window.

Are you taking the piss?
Other than his absolutely fantastic finishing inside the box, what other world class attributes does he have? His movement and knack for finding space I suppose?

He doesn't even come close to Agüero or Suarez for me.

Probably a loan.

That might be it. But a loan could potentially push him even further away from Van Gaal's plans, especially if Memphis and Di Maria monopolize the wide attacking midfielder spots, and the transition to full 4-3-3 does away with Adnan's preferred #10 position. There have been rumors of Van Gaal wanting to convert him into a 'striker', but if that's true he won't really develop in accordance with the manager's requirements while at Everton or a club of that sort. Plus, Louis generally prefers to keep the best youngsters at the club, so him loaning Januzaj doesn't really fill me with confidence. Just hope whatever happens - loan/ positional change works out for the best. Januzaj has a lot to offer to the club. :)

Van Gaal wont stay forever. Better loan him out than playing 10 games. He is still young, but I don't see how he will play a lot of games, he needs game time.

Maybe he will be our 3rd striker or 5th winger for next year, but I prefer a loan.

He is not a striker.

He has very good passing and very good close control. He is an excellent header of the ball and his finishing is lethal from all positions. Works hard on the wings and racks up some phenomenal numbers as a wide forward. Moreover, he is more versatile than either of the two forwards you mentioned. He is also pretty quick. I could understand if you think he is not as good as the two you mentioned but to call him limited is funny.

I just believe that calling a 25 year old who consistently racks up unbelievable numbers at the very very highest level, including for his country, limited is bizarre considering his versatility is one of his main strengths.

That's fair.

He's not very flashy or silky, so the most horrific cliche comes out -- 'Muller is the shittest world class player ever', or 'he's the only world class player without any world class traits'. It's so jarring.

I imagine he means terms with the player. Other tweets have said fee has been agreed.

Nobody's said fee agreed except Sky Sports who misquoted Sky Italia, we've agreed terms with Darmian it's the price we're negotiating still.

He's one of the first names on the team sheets of sides that have won Bundesligas, Champions Leagues and a World Cup. He's one of the top ten world cup goalscorers of all time already, and will likely play in another 2 world cups at least. He would immediately become our best player should he join.

I agree, it just shows a really poor knowledge of football to say that a player like Muller isn't world class because he isn't rapid or does 50 step-overs a game.
Just off the top of my head, think of Alan Shearer back in the day. He was one of the best players in the world in his pomp but he wasn't particularly flashy. He was just always in the right place at the right time, strong, great in the air and brilliant finisher - a lot of traits that Muller shares. Muller isn't quite as good in front of goal (but very few would be) but is far superior in his build-up play.
We'd be lucky to have him. He'd immediately be our best forward, winger, and probably even centre mid if we bought him.

I agree. £60m is a lot for Muller even though I rate him highly. About £20m too much in fact. Some of you lot never learn.
We paid that much (in pounds) for Di Maria. Muller has always been the better player and unlike Di Maria, his club doesn't want to sell him.

It is as a fair price as it can be.

Sounds like the makings of a good striker to me.

Exactly, there are only a handful of players I would deem to be worth 60mil. He would be one of them.

'Darmian Day' is reminding me a lot of 'Morgan Monday' from a few weeks back. A lot of jumping the gun I reckon.
