All of those guys were on loan at Valencia last season. Is it confirmed they bought them all? Vietto isn't announced yet either for atleti
Yes they have all been bought. Negredo was announced recently. The others were done last month.

I think they've all been confirmed. Surprised that they've decided to buy all of them, have they all been good? I think the agreement had been in place to purchase Negredo on a permanent basis in a year even last year when he went there.

Yeah i don't think they have a choice on Negredo. He's been a flop. The others have been good. Cancelo is a backup and only played a few games though. He's for the future. Yoel is also the reserve keeper.

Negredo will probably be sold.
Sevilla need a striker after selling Bacca and i can't see any other team being interested in him. He could rediscover him form at Sevilla who knows.

Luckily we already have two extremely capable strikers on our books unlike you guys did last season.
What's chelsea fans' thoughts on why you've gone for falcao?

Obv its only a loan so like us there's little 'risk' but he has so clearly lost his ability. I cant believe its that mour likes the idea of proving lvg wrong, and i just can't think mendes has that much power over one of his own biggest clients for it to be a favour...

Very good signing for them. He was amongst the top (if not the top) players for average interceptions and tackles per match in Europe last season. He'll adjust to the PL in no time. Soton and Marseille missed out on him.

I am no Chelsea fan but the idea that Mourinho wants to prove LvG wrong is ridiculous. You'd think we were talking about a teenage romance triangle. The most plausible explanation is Mendes for me and the fact that they already have an established first choice striker so it's not so much risk for them.

I'm trying to think of reasons here why José is so keen to have him...

Maybe he's planning on using him with Costa a bunch and thinks that'll get Falcao back to his best? Maybe he simply thinks that with the much better midfield service players like Fabregas and Hazard provide will improve him? Perhaps him reuniting with a bunch of his former teammates and a Colombian buddy will help him.

Or maybe the cynical posters here are correct and he's doing Mendes a huge favor in exchange for something related to another big client.

Clutching at straws here. Hoping for the best.

Think you're not wrong there

This does make sense. I think as is the case in most of these situations, it is never one factor. Mourinho could be thinking of all these factors (midfield service, colombian connection, ...) add to that his relationship with Mendes and he you could easily see why Mourinho get to the conclusion that it's worth taking a punt.

So why wouldn't clubs like Chelsea, United, Arsenal etc now just say "feck it" and go and spend £200m each after seeing FFP is a complete farce and has no bite?

Well in the case of Arsenal and ourselves, we obviously have a limit to what we can spend since our budgets are based on how much we generate ourselves - anything above what we are getting each in each season or have in reserve basically means taking on debt which the club will have to repay at some point thus affecting a future transfer budget.

That obviously isn't the situation with Chelsea as a sugar daddy club, but for United and Arsenal then £200m would be an absolute limit with big consequences, whereas obviously both City and Chelsea can piss all over that since they have billionaires supporting them. With FFP dead (or at best dying) then we're back to the position of a transfer market with some clubs with no natural financial limit compared to even the biggest clubs who are not being able to go near £200m.

There's a (bullshit) theory that we're holding off on announcing our deals because of pressure from Adidas to unveil our players in their kit rather than Nike's.

When do we start wearing Adidas kits? It's a sort of logical thing to do, albeit very bullshit sounding.

Erm yeah I don't think we're going to sacrifice a signing's preseason just for a photo op.

New kits unveiled 1st of August but yeah, pretty sure Van Gaal clarified that integrating the new signings in Pre-Season is the most important thing we can do for a successful season. He wouldn't let financial arrangements take control of the club like that.

I could understand something like that in terms of a star signing (like Di Maria last year), but I can't see LVG, control freak that he is, allowing core signings he has identified to be postponed, thus missing pre-season tour, for the sake of commercial obligations. Wouldn't surprise me if we did sign a high profile player after the pre-season tour, but we definitely want to get our main targets before July 16th.

Thing is that would be counter productive from addidas, also couldn't we sign them and just wait until August to unveil them?

I don't believe we would ever agree to this... Van Gaal refused to oraganize one game to unvail the new kit. I just can't imagine he would not take any players on the pre-season tour just so we could unveil them with Adidas kits...
